I've only seen red ink recently if a post or part of a post was deemed a personal attack (whether either party deserved it or not.) The hardest part about leadership is to know when to stay out of it. That is, the easiest thing to do is crack down on anything, carte blanche. It is more difficult to stand back and leave it alone. Again, 50 pages is a testament to free discussion, with the occasional removal of an offending statement, meanwhile, the "offender" was not suspended and allowed to continue.
I also go to a Guns and Roses fan forum. Any imaginable curse word can be used there, as well as just about any topic, even ones that would not be suitable here. However, threads do get locked and trashed if they violate the TOS of that site. Such as hacking the site, multiple accounts to get around a suspension or banning, threats to admin. And before someone cries censorship on that, it is a privately owned site and if that bothers a person, they are free to go elsewhere. It's the way I was raised. You don't crap on the carpet in someone else's house. (Not that you would do so in your own house, either.)
Jaime did a fine job. I think the ladies in charge now are doing a fine job. It is unpaid and they must accomplish this task in addition to their jobs, families, life events (great and small) and get some sleep and a shower, sometime. All for no pay. It is a labor of love. Seriously, if you wanted to pay the $10 an hour, which you can make as a temp from Kelly Services assigned to GE Digital shipping computer ups's, then these people should be getting at least $200 a week for their efforts, if not more.
But there is no money to pay them because dog.com does not charge for this site. They provide this site as a benefit of the profit they make from sales. It costs to have time on servers and to get the servers maintained, as well as getting OS glitches fixed, if it is possible to get them fixed. Possibly a reason for leaving the old format was dwindling tech support for that, as problematic as this new system has been.
I haven't been around as much but it's not because of any issue I have with the board. My job has me at the office at 6 am and rarely out of there before 4 pm. It takes all my energy and concentration. When I am done, I totally have to escape. And music is my safe place. So, I go home and sing my butt off. It's a totally different head space. I've posted examples now and then in the NDR section.
But I do enjoy being here and some of the lively discussions, as well as the laughs. And to share misery and consolation, too. I will always be an i-dogger, even if I am not around here every day. And this forum has brought me benefit. Just the other day, I was able to share something from here with a supplier rep. I told him, "If you set a man on fire, he will be warm for the rest of his life." I like simple logic.
