Do we have a libel issue here? LANI??

Hey kids - someone is throwing a breeder name out there slamming them for breeding w/dysplasia.  This one's a talker - LOADS to say in only the last couple hours since I approved the ID.  Need some help here - I moved the thread into the Mod Den

Paige my gut says that all reference to the particular breeder and line need to be removed and she/he needs a very stern warning that it won't be tolerated.

I'll look at other posts by her later

Agreed 0- and she started a copy of the same thread - it's getting pulled down into here right now... I have a dinner I have to leave for, so I have no time to edit.  Sorry - will look late tonight when I get home.  I did send her a warning msg

just pm'd worldclassgoldens about the blog url in their posts - they are breeders and there is info on there about sales of puppies

I also threw a post in the abuse report area that aDork and Jackie keyed in on that this may be the Wisteria kennel that the other person complained about

have you heard from Lani on any of this?

Nope, I don't think she's been on the forum.  She had a busy weekend showing.

I saw the post about Wisteria kennels - I thought it was too coincidental and sort of half expected it to be them.  As for the chat crap, the bottom line is we can't allow peeps to advertise a specific kennel - good/bad/indifferent, right?  Unless they own the kennel and have been long time members and don't have an active link in the siggie and don't spam the forum?  Yes?

to be honest I don't know where the line is with advertising a kennel.  I know anything negative is considered potentially libelous.

I've said over and over that having separate rules for 'long time' members and everyone else is unacceptable to me.  On other forums there are different levels of membership based on amount of posts and or length of membership we do not have that system in place.

since we do allow people to have inactive urls or kennel names in their posts and sigs it would be difficult to alter that, I nixed worldclassgolden's url to their blog because it was blatant advertising for sales of pups

The whole issue is ugly and the more unified our stand the easier it is to police, if we start having too many exceptions it will be impossible to uphold

I don't really know - I came in as a Mod after you did, so I've been following what I understood from when I came on board a year and a half ago.  I do understand that having rules for long-time members vs new members just doesn't hold much water, but if that's what dog.com has given for a directive, then that's what we're supposed to uphold.  Think it's time for contact with dog.com Admin to get their current stance??  That's what I think should happen.  I'll initiate an email now.

I sent an email to Terry Moody - who has advised she's our new contact.  I copied you both on the email looking for them to provide the guidance in accordance with their standards.
