    Pomeranian lovers

Would love to talk to other pom owners.  I recently purchased a teacup pom, female, she is 6 months old June 14, her name is Zoe.  My first pom, I just adore her.[:)]

I am not a pom owner, but I did want to caution you that anything labeled TEACUP (which, by the way is not an accepted AKC size) is far more prone to health problems.  Miniturizing dogs causes health problems, so PLEASE be very dedicated in her checkups and please don't wait a heartbeat getting her to the vet if something seems off.

got your message.  My Zoe is doing great, she weighs 4 Lbs now and is so healthy.  Shes had all of her shots and I take her to the vet once a month so he can cut her nails.  Shes well taken care of.  My husband use to raise poms so I'm pretty confident with his knowledge of them.  The breeder I bought her from is fantastic and just a phone call away.  Tomorrow I am taking her to be groomed professionally for the first time.  A little nervous about that.  Thank you for your message.

What a little cutie!  Would love to see more pics!

I have a pom too, Diddy, but he's a giant (compared to other poms).  Weighs in at a whooping 16lbs [:D].  He's turning 4 in a couple of months.  And here's a picture of him with his "little" brother.

We have three poms, Ginger, Rusty and Wolfie.  Ginger is a sable, 6 lb when fat; Rusty is an orange, approximately 8 lbs, and Wolfie is a ?cream sable or we actually think a wolf sable weighing in currently at 12 lb but at his heaviest 16 lbs.  Wolfie looks very much like a wolf, grey, cream, and the sable markings.  Wolf sable is a double recessive so we're thinking his size is a throwback to before they were breed down, at least that's is what one breeder told us.

Original poster - How old is you pom?  4 lb I don't think, technically, is a teacup, because show poms weigh between 3 and 7 lb.  We got Ginger at 6 months old and she weighed 4 lb and she is the only pom we have that is show quality, and yes teacups are full of genetic problems, including luxating patellas.  Vet says it is not if, but when poms will have a problem.

Our little Rusty is such a loveable boy, but his knees started hurting and he became nasty, and started to growl and snap.  We had his knees fixed and we have our sweet boy back.  Surgery is expensive, but worth every dime to have the sweet, loveable dogs these guys should be.  All three of mine are awesome little dogs.

There is actually no such thing as a teacup [8|]  It is actually a term used by breeders to make more money, and to make their dogs seem more desirable.  Often times, a teacup is either a runt, or a dog which is younger than the breeder says they are.  Often times, this "teacup" ends up normal sized or larger than breed standard calls for.

Cute poms [:)]  We had a pom named Foxy when I was growing up!  I love the apple headed breeds.

    Hi,
I am not a pom owner yet, but seriously thinking about it. Are you pom owners finding the breed to shed alot? Also, I understand that yappiness can be bred out of a dog. Or is it trainning that needs to help with that? Can a small dog be trainned not to bark?
I'm trying to decide between a pom, a yorkie or a dachshund.  Thanks!

Has anyone bought a pom-poo? My grandma just got one, they are really fun.  I am trying to find one too.  Do they go together well with labs?

I think it all depends on the dog.  I have three, one is very barky, one medium and my doll baby isn't very barky at all.  Same with my shelties who are known to be barkers, actually neither of mine were very barkie at all.

I do notice all of my dogs bark more when someone in the house is away, it disturbs their routine or something.
