What do you do with your working dog?

My future GSD is from working lines (though she is a show champion) and we are going to do agility and hopefully try tracking since many dogs from her lines and her kennel excel at this (one of her sons is on his way to being a tracking champion).  I'd also love to try flyball if she's up to it.  I'm new to all of these sports so this will be a learning experience for me and I'm grateful to have a dog that's already farther along than I am.

ETA:  We'll also use a backpack on certain walks to give her a sense of purpose when we can't be doing agility all the time.

I would follow Becca's advice about only herding herdable things if I had even a remote hope of getting sheep or cows, but...Sequoyah loved herding the 2 liter bottles as a pup.  Now, she likes f-r-i-s-b-e-e (I can't say it out loud or she'll hear me [:D]).  My dogs love agility.  Sequoyah will try tracking this weekend... All three do tricks.
Sioux (1/2 Aussie) and Maska (hound) are both therapy dogs.
All my dogs get lots of activity outdoors, and go for runs on the beach, to play groups with other dogs, etc.  They really have a varied life, and not much time for boredom, although they will play couch potato if we are vegging out.

    Laundry.

I'm serious. I was carrying my kids' laundry, dropped something and Gizmo picked it up for me. I praised him and now he's hooked on this "game." So when doing laundry, I leave a pile in the hall by the kids' rooms and Gizmo runs to the pile, picks something up and carries it to the washing machine as I load it.

I have three sons, one husband and a dog. [sm=lol.gif] I do laundry every day and Gizmo (who will carry anything anywhere) loves to run back and forth picking stuff up.

He also helps carry anything else I can think of.

True confessions time: Gizmo will steal stuff to carry if he isn't given something to do. He has gotten onto a kid's bed and swiped an entire stuffed animal collection (one toy at a time) and deposited it in the kitchen while I was cooking.

haha that's great! I'm going to teach my dog to pick up my laundry and put it in a basket. He already picks up my dirty socks and brings them to me. I can see it now. I'll be the envy of my entire family. A dog that house cleans! My mom would try to kidnap him I'm sure!

My dogs sniff bugs for my parents pest control company, they sniff termites, capenter ants, and at home they hunt and kill any flies that are bothering us. their handy to have around the house.
snoopy helps me around the yard when i'm picking up sticks for our fire pit.  he will carry one and put it in the pile when i deposit mine[:)]
i recently had a large limb i was struggling with when i had a bright idea.  i tied snoopy to it with his leash (gonna have to get a pulling harness!) and he pulled it loose for me!(it was tangled with another)  he was awesome!
