Some Questions about Pitbulls

    • Gold Top Dog
Yeah we're hoping that we can leave them together as long as we're home.

The crate we're looking at ishttp://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441780009&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=282574488339106&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023689&CONTENT%3C%3Ecnt_id=10134198673363510&bmUID=1167720043343

We know the purina is bad we're going shopping tomorrow so we'll try to get something better.

    That's a great crate.

I hope it all works out for you.

You signed up for training, right?

Waiting to hear back from the trainer.  I'm going to call him tomorrow if he doesn't email me back today.  I just found him on New Years day so...  the holidays make it a pain to get in touch with people and set things up.

Congrats on the pups! They're cuties!!!

You've gotten a lot of great suggestions...as a person who owns more Am Staffs then the average person would it is possible but you must be determined and it sounds like you are.
Feeding each in their crtaes is good but they must also learn to respect that they can not be food aggressive and should be able to be treated at the same time. This past summer my son was showing a dog that we do not own, he traveled with us and my specials dog. Both males, neither of them raised together, the new dog had to learn what I would not accept. I was nothing after the second week to have both males standing next to eachother waiting to receive their snacks...yes it was great PR for the breed every place we went, two intact males!

There are many bully owners and lovers here as well as folks who have experience in general dog training. Pick their brains, ask questions and by all means SHARE PICTURES!!!!

I read more then I post lately but am always available for help
    Good luck!

    Thank you Amstaffy :)

Also I was wrong they've been getting pedigree puppy not purina puppy.

I'll keep the pictures coming as we keep getting setup.

    Anytime!
Now I do suggest you look into a better food and change over slowely mixing what you are feeding now into a new food. Also when these pups are 6 months old you'll want to put them on an adult food, it's better for their growth plates.

Keep in mind, these pups need lots of excercise body and mind..the breed is loving and smart. They like a job and praise to know that what they are doing pleases you. They live for your love. They will react to your displeasure as well and words are often all that is needed to disapline.
You seem to be a dedicated owner and will do well with consistancy with these girls...being that they are girls they will try and push your buttons. Just keep in mind what would you do if these two were sibling children. My dogs are raised like my children, with boundries, praise and reward as well as dicipline and it can be as much as a look or a sound or as simple as a finger point to know to knock something off or settle down. they learn our body language well [:D]
I can't wait to see these girls grow up! I haven't had Am Staff puppies for years!!

We just picked up a big bag of Natural Balance for Puppies and we're begining the switch today at lunch.

I treat these guys just like I would a child.  They're actually harder than children in alot of ways.  We actually got them some new chew toys and peanut butter for their Kongs.  They love the plushie toys so we get them some but don't leave them alone with them since they love to eat the stuffing.

Sadie is loving walks already.  I got her harness and leash on her and she walked with me perfectly.  She wanted to run but I'm in work clothes still but I'm going to run them after work.  Smokie will take more work I think.

Anything wrong with them play fighting?
    • Gold Top Dog
This would be playing, not "fighting"

If play gets too rough, seperate, and let them cool down for a while. Give them their own toys.
    • Gold Top Dog
    Good Job!!!

Playing can get rough and it is Ok as long as they learn from you when it's time to tone it down and "settle" ..thats my word and I say it sternly and they know when they hear it mom means business and we better chill out. Of course the girls try to catch one more nip and then they get the finger point...LOL!
    I bet you're having a blast!
    • Gold Top Dog
    Finger point! HAHAAHAHHAA

    I love your Staffies [:D][:)][;)]
    • Gold Top Dog
I have the finger point too! Especially since we just recently stopped allowing Ella on the couch with us (we're going through some training and behavior modification with her) and the stinker, who NEVER got on our couch without us before, can just about at any random time, be found on our couch. Oooooh, and she KNOWS! She KNOWS she's SO wrong, too!!! I should have named her "Rebel" and not Ella...
I catch her, I don't yell, I point at her, and then point to the ground. She gets off the couch immediately, but I believe it's because she KNOWS she isn't supposed to be on it.

Silly, girl. She's testing us right now, but I love her.

See Rory does that with my bed. Ya ya, I know....leave the door closed but when I forget that is the first place she goes.
As I'm walking up the front path I can here her scramble from my bedroom to the living room. When I enter she is curled up on the couch, all stretched out and yawning like "oh home so soon'. She dosnt realize that I can tell cause the bed is still warm, she covers are on teh floor, and my pillows are made into a lil circle that she uses to encompass herself, haha

    awww!!!
    I LOVE Rory!

    What a sweetiepie!

Good to hear about the fighting.  We seperate them when they get too rough for us (flying across the room pretty much at this point)

They both ran very well today.  Smokey even ran harder than me on the way back.  It was very nice.

Thanks for all your advice guys I should have more pictures by the end of the weekend.
