    Copper

    Hello All!

Alright, I'm finally breaking down and asking......What sort of mix do you think Copper is?  All I know is that he is at least half Australian Shepherd (his Mom is), but that is all I know.  Part of me is thinking Shar Pei (because of the wrinkles) and maybe some Lab (because of the shoulder band).  Any guesses?  OH, almost forgot!  He's 11 months old right now.  I'm apoligizing now for the multiple pictures....I'm one of those picture happy moms.  [;)]

I can't tell if he has the bump above his nose, but he looks like Shar Pei mixed with Lab.
That first picture is too cute for words, very handsome Copper!

This is the only picture I could find that was a side view.  Granted this picture was taken when he was about 3-4 months old.  Again, sorry for so many pictures....I really can't help it. [;)]

Wow, I would never have guessed Australian Shepherd...was his mom pure or a X?  He looks a lot like a Lab/Shar Pei X, though Shar Pei is a little on the rare-ish side...but then again I've seen obvious crosses of them before so it's certainly not impossible.

Edit to add: Ok that puppy pic def. looks Shar Pei!

He looks pretty Pei.Lab to me still. Just going on his colouring, his face, the extra skin and ears the way they are being held.
He sure is cute though!!! I love dogs with the extra skin, you can mold them.[:)]

The rescue group told me that his mom was pure Aussie (it was GA Aussie Rescue group that saved them).

What about a wrinkly hound? They had Conrad listed as a Shar Pei mix at the pound because of his wrinkles, but he's no more pei than fly over the moon. We're pretty sure he's a bloodhound mix.

Some days I wonder if he is a small part hound.  When he gets excited he can/will howl like a hound.  BUT my friend's dog is part Coonhound.  Her & Copper play a lot (he was around her quite a bit when he was a puppy).  So with this in mind, is is possible that he could have learned to howl like a hound from her?

He appears to have the characteristic thick lips of a Shar Pei mix.  I possibly could see an Aussie mix in there.  No one said that all Aussies are merle!! [;)]

Shar pei is kind of rare but I definitely see it in his muzzle! There's gotta be some Lab in there too. A lot of different breeds of dog can howl, but hounds' baying is a different sound, more throaty than a howl....

One of the vet techs at the Vet's office says that she's almost positive that he's got Shar Pei in him somewhere.  She said that there are actually 2 types of Shar Pei's.  One is the super wrinkly kind that we all think of & then there is another one that is less wrinkly.  Which I can't find any information on, so if you find some, let me know.
