My sister just got a chug! It's the cutest dog ever!

my sister just got a chug (a mix between a pug and chihuahua) and it's the cutest dog we've ever seen.  It doesn't have the ugly face of a chihuahua (or the shakes) nor is it a giant slobbering mess.  She's the perfect size! Gone are the days of having some huge dog knock people over, jump up on company, smash things with it's huge tail!  This animal is just right.

Cute dog, but in no way should it be referred to as a breed, cause that is one thing it's not.  Nor can anyone make generalizations about a mixed breed.  A mix can have any combination of the parent breeds traits, so saying that "Chugs easily adjust to new surroundings and climates and will quickly become devoted to all members of the household. Because the breed is very people oriented, the are attentive and easily trained. Training is easier than in other breeds because of the chugs innate intelligence and good memory." is total bs, cause there is no guarantee what you're going to get.  Just cause one pup is like this doesn't mean that others will be too.

I dont think chihuahua owners would be too happy that you called them ugly and when referring to the giant slobbering mess do you mean a pug? Many pug owners might disagree with you as well.As a giant dog owner i have to say i would take mine over yours any day!

First of all, not all of us think chihuahuas have ugly faces and pugs are "giant slobbering messes".  Very rude remark.

"She's the perfect size! Gone are the days of having some huge dog knock people over, jump up on company, smash things with it's huge tail!"

Um, small dogs can do those things, too.  And for the record, my 60 pound girl does not knock people over, jump up on company, or smash things with her "huge" tail.  She knows better than to act that way.

There is so much I can say  but I have to hold myself back...

All I really have to say is glad that you found a dog that is right for you.  We all have our opinions on what makes the perfect dog and you found yours, congrats.

Yes, I have to hold myself back on this as well, but I would like to say that none of my chihuahuas shake.  I also happen to think that my chihuahuas are very cute.

There is a breed out there for everyone.  I love pugs as well.  Although I do not personally condone the mixing of breeds on purpose, I'm glad you found the dog for you[8|]

Yes, I too could say many things but won't.  And for the record, my 90 lb german shepherds don't jump on people, knock anyone over and you learn with ANY dog with a full tail not to leave stuff laying around in tails reach.

Wow - slightly offended here........we have a female chi and one of the last words i would ever use to describe her would be ugly.....

    • Gold Top Dog
Why do you say a huge  dog? Which one is huge the chi. or the pug?
    • Gold Top Dog
If pugs are huge, then what is a great dane?!?!
    • Gold Top Dog
    er, no.
    NO, NO, NO.

Is there a reason for this *breed*? I mean, a good SOLID reason, like, perhaps breeding to make a healthier dog, or a working dog of sorts?
Or is this *breed* made SPECIFICALLY for "designer" reasons or for their "cuteness".
Maybe I'm WAY off base here in my thoughts, but that's creepy.
And I HIGHLY doubt it's to make a healthier dog or a working dog.

Instead of CREATING *breeds* why don't people become UNLAZY and train their dogs?
I can only IMAGINE the possible health problems that people are creating when making their new "pretty, people oriented, $1500" BREED.
Oh jesus, and I'm not even going to go into the thousands of dogs that are in shelters that need homes.
What is the purpose of this dog? What, to be a cute pet? A good, obedient, family/people oriented pet? Crap. Save yourself a few hundred and go to a shelter and adopt a cute, good, obedient, family/people oriented pet.

Sorry, guys. I just spent a couple hours reading a psychology text book so my brain and thoughts are kind of, WHOOSH, out there right now.

No, they're not. You're right on the money. FWIW, I'm not against cross-breeding if there is a good purpose and enough of a market. Though I think it can go overboard. But I am for ethical breeding, wether pure or cross.

Just another large dog owner who's dogs don't jump or knock people over or knock things off tables willy-nilly. Sigh.  If people would train their dogs, large or small, you wouldn't have to worry about these things.

What happened to the days of just being happy that someone is excited about their new puppy... and accepting the fact that not everyone cares for certain breeds? Geez guys! Okay, so someone thinks chihuahua's are ugly and pugs are huge slobbering messes? Okay... so? And while I don't necessarily agree with every statement she made, I'm not going to be so rude to her! (And about the big dogs jumping up on people, etc... did we ever stop to think that comment was probably a result of the interactions she's had with large dogs and that we, as large dog owners, shouldn't take it so personally?)

Congrats on your new puppy... The link was removed so I can't see the pic, but I'm sure it's a cute breed, I think with the characteristics of the two parent breeds, there's no chance to produce an ugly pup! Unless, like my husband would say "It's so ugly it's cute" LOL, but anyway congrats!!!!
    • Gold Top Dog
    Oh come on!
    It's not even *her* dog.
I'm going to be a jerk here, and have to stick by what I said about the creation of a new *breed*.

I got on my friend who wanted to breed her pug to a beagle to make "puggles".
    GAH.
    WHY?
Quit making dogs without a purpose! They're not science experiments!
    Stop it.
