Basically a smaller version of the berner and has short hair.   there are 4 types of swiss mountain dogs. The greater Swiss, the Bernese, the Appenzeller and the Entlebucher. All have the same markings, just differ in size and length of coat.   we love our girl. When we thought we were not going to be able to find her, we seriously considered the Bernese, but decided against it because of the shorter life expectancy of the bread. We had just lost our dog after 11 years together and couldn't face the thought of a Berner having a shorter life span.
