    Breed ID, please

    Here's a photo of a puppy I just got.

The adoption agency said it is a Border Collie mix, but I think I see quite a bit of Bernese Mountain Dog

    What do you think?

    Thank you!

do you have any bigger picture? its hard to tell because the pic is so small [sm=happy.gif] the colors remind me of a bernese mountain dog, but like I said, its hard to tell with such a small pic [:D]

it is hard to tell, but you're right, the coloring is very mountain dog-ish. in fact, i just saw a BM Dog puppy today (so cute!) and it looked quite similar although maybe a bit fluffier.

Personally, I think the coat looks too short to be a BMD.  I also would have expected larger feet.  (Of course I'm not sure since I don't know her age.)  If you're thinking she's a BMD mix based on her coloring, lots of dogs can be tri colored.  Even badsenjis.

I'd be more inclined to suggest collie.  Not enough bone to suggest a BMD.  As previously stated that color variation is out there, in belgians even, though very rare.

I don't see any BMD in the pup, personally. It's a very cute pup but looks like a mix of two or more breeds...BC is likely tho the tri color pattern is found in many, many breeds.  Generally when trying to figure mixes...I look for the most COMMON breeds seen running at large or being picked up stray...in my area that Pit's and their mixes, Labs and their mixes, GSD mixes and a few others.

Very sweet puppy tho..congrats on adopting her!

I don't see any Bernese Mountain dog... the coat length, slender build, muzzle, ear type, and coloring look to me like a Smooth Collie or Shepherd mix. I definitely think he's some type of herding dog mix.

I saw GSD, too.  It's hard to say what else is in her background right now, but she really reminded me of a GSD pup in that first pic.  Whatever she is mixed with, she's one of those Dorables.  I'd love to see more pics of her as she grows.

hmm maybe Greater Swiss Mountain Dog mix?

The ears look like they are just about to stand up so I would have to go with GSD or something similar. Isn't a Swiss even bigger than a Berm. mt. dog? The paws are no where big enough for either one of thoes breeds.

I agree to some hearding mix but this puppy is still to tiny to even guess.
