New Malinois

    New Malinois

Well she is here.  I am pleased to introduce  Tri Sorts Bounder, to be known as Nora.  She is 7 months old and has two points to her credit.  I had gone to a breeder to evaluate the herding instinct of a stud dog and brood bitch.  This little girl had previously carried her tail way too high (gay even).  Well once she grew up a bit, down came the tail.  She is quite wonderful in temperment and her conformation faults are all those I can live with.  We had a rough homecoming with the weather and a husband just out of the ER with kidney stones, so pictures will have to wait.   Just had to share.

Congrats!  I have a friend with a very nice Mal - very enthusiastic about sheep (ahem) but very nice dog overall.

Will she be starting herding training soon?

Sunday is her first lesson.  She too is INTENSE in her herding exposure at Keepstone Farm.  She wanted lamb chops and didnt really want to wait for a butcher .  However, she did respond to a tug on a line and a "here" to break off contact.  She also did a sit to start.  She is close and fast at this moment in time.  But that is to be expected.  I have lessons and clinics all lined by this summer. I took her home with me based on her interest and her dad's natual response.  He was diving in, I took of my hat and waved it at him.  He broke off, moved out and switched directions.  Came when called (I took him by myself and he had spent minimal time with me prior to the road trip).  Mom did not true on, but her interest and poppa's response were good enough for me.

Gosh mrv, it's not fair to post about a new baby and not have pics!  Look forward to seeing your new puppy.

(An aside, I took the basenjis herding today.)
