Favorite Terrier?

Favorite terrier...for looks I'd say the Austrailian Terrier.  They look so alert and pointy.  I'm a sucker for toy foxes, fox terriers, manchesters and rat terriers too.  I also think the border terriers are quite endearing.  Though I have always wanted a Bull Terrier...I just don't think my personality would be right for terriers.

Things like that are mentioned in standards often. For example, many standards may say Merle is a disqualification if it's often seen in puppy mills and the such. Just because someone tampers and breeds it in doesn't mean it's natural to the breed.

JRTs can have prick ears.  It is a fault.  They can also have a nose that is not fully pigmented, thats a fault.  They can be under 12 inches or over 15 inches, thats a fault.  Sometimes one or both ears of a German Shepherd does not stand.  It does not mean they are not purebred.  It just means, they inherited less than perfect genes from their parents.  I work for a breeder and his daughters dog has prick ears, of course, she is spayed so we don't continue to breed this fault.  She is the offspring of two champions, and her dam has her American and Brazilian championship.  Of course, ours are AKC, so they are PARSON Russell Terriers, but the breeding is the same and until just a few years ago, they were considered the same dog.  They are still ;pretty much the same dog, but the Parson is the correct, original breed type.  The others are still cute though.
My favorite is the Parson, but I cannot choose between the others!  The terrier group is by far my favorite and I love them all!

I'm not a terrier person, either. In fact, I'd go so far as to say owning one would drive me crazy. I know this little rascal of a JRT who used to get out of his yard and run down into the bush nearby. He'd come bounding up and jump all over you full of love, but then the moment he heard someone calling him, he'd give you this "Gotta go!" look and race off in the opposite direction at top speed. So naughty! [:D] I don't think I could live with such deliberate rascalyness. I love a mischievous dog, but only if they give in and behave again before I get tired of the mischief. [;)]

But I think my favourite to look at would be the Bedlington. Nice and racey. I've met a few and they've been nice dogs, too. Westies are also pretty sweet. If Mini pins count, I like them, too. The only terrier I'd ever consider owning would be a staffy, though.

I have been bitten by Australian terriers on more than one ocassion. One horror gave me no indication he was going to bite me at all and waited until I was happily patting him before he suddenly lunged at me and snapped his jaws shut on my finger. Owner turns around and cheerfully coos "You're a bad boy." [:@] My fault for assuming all dogs are nice, I guess.

I LOVE terriers and it's so hard to narrow down my favorites!  I have to say my #1 right now is the APBT, only because my Tinker is the cutest, sweetest one ever.  Close behind are JRT's, wire fox terriers, yorkies, and westies!
