Catahoula

A lot of mixes in Southern shelters get mislabeled as Aussies when they are really Catahoula mixes, and vice versa.  Especially because of the lovely blue eyes, which either breed can have.

Your Catahoula could be a mix, here are some pictures of purebreds:

It's kind of hard to tell since they come in so many different colors, but depending on the head and body shape your dog could be a mix.

A person in my 4-H group used to have two Catahoulas. They were very beautiful and had impressive attitudes.

EDIT: I just saw the picture of your dog, and judging by the thickness of his coat and his muzzle I would say he is mixed with a Labrador or maybe a Husky. Catahoulas normally have larger muzzles and a sleek, smooth coat.

I am convinced he is mixed with something else.  I saw a story on ABC News about a test that they can do to tell for sure.  I might ask my vet about it next time we go in.  I have always been very curious!
