I have a pointer and a setter. My setter was an over-the-top terror until she was about two. She is still full of energy and if we miss agility class, she still will tear through the house and act like a nut. My pointer is OK in the house, but out in the yard she will just run back and forth looking out into the meadow. Agility class and obedience class makes them so much more pleasant during the rest of the week.
Try to find some activity that will challange his mind as well as his body. At 6 months, he's old enough to start in obedience. With agility, you have to becareful, still, with growing bones and joints. Take him out to the park on a long line where he can run full out in a huge circle around you (change directions often). Start clicker training with him and for 5 minutes at a time, have him go through his repitory of tricks, etc. when you bring him in the house, feed him, and the like. The point is, a tired puppy is a good puppy. [
