aussie and smooth BORDER COLLIE maybe?

I'm throwing out idea on what my baby Kiwi could be. He's about one year. 50 lbs and 20 inches at the shoulder. He was listed as an Aussie mix..and I'm getting him TOMORROW! Wahooooooooo! [:D]

I got two votes that he mixed with a short coated border collie..I dunno though.

He is HIGH energy and loves to run, run, run! I can't wait to get him! Planning on doing obedience and agility with him!

Did you post this someplace else as well?  I'm only asking because I swear I saw that picture someplace, "listed" as an Aussie mix.  I didn't see anything about smooth BC, but that's what I was thinking the mix was.  Of course, I could just be losing it and imagined the whole thing!  LOL  Anyway- good luck with your new addition.  He's gorgeous!

border collies come in smooth and rough coats.  He has decidedly aussie characteristics (more bone and substance).  so an aussie mix makes sense to me

I might even say ACD/Aussie (am I crazy?) because of the build, long tail, and *almost* ears.

Today is the day! I can't wait!!! I'll post pics when I take some![:D]

Cattle Dog.  He's gorgeous, and I KNOW he will be wonderful, I can tell by the look on his face....!

You know, I meet him finally! He was just a pup in that pic and I'm 99% sure he's mixed with Border Collie. Even his foster mom suspects that. She told me to put him on interceptor as opposed to heartguard due to that. He's at least partial mix with BC. He's leggy and according to the shelter..approximently 9 months old now. I suspect he's a little older 11-12..could be wrong though.

He's FAST! Loves to run. A great dog! Friendly and loving! A real nuzzler as he's learning to trust. He's my shadow..hehe. If he does something wrong and I tell him "off" or "no"..he comes to me to almost apolize. He's really sweet. I love him.

Just an FYI- Australian Shepherds are sensitive to Ivomectin, too, as are Collies, Shelties (as I'm sure you already know), Bearded Collies and Old English Sheepdogs.  [:)

Anyway, I still think you're right on the mark and that he's an Aussie/BC mix.  He's gorgeous!

I think bc/aussie is a possibility. Cute dog! Do you have more pictures?

He falls well within the range of purebred Border Collie looks. Merles are not all that rare and of course smooths are quite common. He is merle not ticked like an ACD, elminating completely the possiblity of any ACD - the dog would have to have some ticking as that is a dominant characteristic. He's cute - congrats!

Oh I wish you lived closer to me because I'm still trying to place Toffee (dog in my avie pic) with a good home and her personality is just about everything aussie and would make a wonderful agility dog.

I see a lot of aussie in Kiwi, sure is a cute little guy.  The tail does make me think BC.  You are going to have so much fun with him once he comes home.[:D]
