We were told she is a cockapoo but, mom seems to think she does not look like one....

When we got Bailey we were told she is a cockapoo. I don't really have any reason to doubt she is a cockapoo but, mom thinks that when I have searched cockapoo pictures on line, Bailey does not look like a Cocker Poodle mix. Do you guys think she could be an English Cocker Poodle mix? I just want some oppinions, I did post these picturs in the pictures section because I love my girl so much! I just want to say that mixed dogs and pure breeds are great! In my oppinion a true dog lover loves all dogs. It makes me feel horrible to think that there are some great designer breeds out there getting the shaft because people don't want to look "trendy". A dog should not be a trend and no dog owner should be looked down apon unless they treat their four legged friend badly.

Your dog has a soft looking curled coat...and that could be Poodle most assuredly...the coloring could be from either breed...or any of many other breeds. I guess the question is...who told you the dog was a Cockapoo...and do you have reason to doubt what you were told? English Cockers are rarely seen...and tho they have differences, in a mix with Poodle I highly doubt one "cocker" would much look different than another.

dogs from both breeds can run a gamut of type from very typey unmistakeably "XX BREED"...to "what the heck IS that? THAT'S...a XXX Breed?"...and in my experience it's rare that the very typey examples...with those strong unmistakeable genes...end up being mixed with other breeds.

Thanks, I really have no reason to doubt what I was told. I just wonderded if people here would agree with my mom that she does not look like any cockapoos they have seen.

She actually looks like my friend's cockapoo....similar face.  No two cocker/poodles I've seen have looked terribly similar...they vary a LOT as Gina said...

she looks exactly like the cockapoo my neighbor had when I was a kid-- except he was gray, not white.

Reese is supposed to be a cockapoo too but she certainly doesnt look anythig like one.She was at the shelter as a "breeder reject" so i guess she could be anything. Her littermates look just the same as her only all different sizes.Reese is 7 lbs,the largest in the litter being about cocker size.
