fear of specific breeds?

I am not really scared of a certin breed more like cautious. I am a bit leary of Rottweilers, although I have met alot of great ones, but my sister was bitten by one and I was there so I guess thats why. I also agree with Chihuahua's, they do scare me. My aunts and cousins have them, all together about 8, and at every holiday party they go after everyone that walks in and plus they are just so shy.
Also my aunt has a VERY aggressive Cocker Spaniel, she had attacked all of the family, which is about 12 people, and she is extreamly food aggresive, she regularly bites my aunt also.
But, I am usually more scared of a dog that shows aggression in its body posture, non dependant on breed

2crazyAussies - I agree I'm a bit leary of Damlations, one of my freinds growing up had a Dalmation named Chops that could nip at people frequently, although I had met alot of wonderful Dalmations since then, but I feel you!

I'm wary of any dog that seems to not be under control by it's owner.  There was a pit that wasn't on a lead and acting pretty aggressive at a gas station that I was pretty nervous around.

The only breed that I've had repeated problems with is the American Eskimo.  I can tell you it won't be the first breed I jump up and run over to meet.  I did however meet a nice one the other day.  He was really well trained.  But it wasn't a toy, it was a standard.  All the other ones I've met have been toys and have been really really aggressive.

The only dog that ever really scared me was an akita who barked at me, about a foot from my face. It wasn't his fault, I shouldn't have been a foot from his face. I was 10, I think, and the owner was standing right there. I let the dog sniff my hand, then squatted down to pet him, and he let out this awful bark while I squatted. I sure didn't mean to be so close to his face, and after the bark, I quickly stood up, but seriously, that's the only time I've really been afraid of a dog. The owner said a minute later the dog didn't like kids. So why let the 10 year old pet him, you idiot?? [:@]

A few weeks ago I was almost scared though. I was driving to the store, got about halfway up my street, and there were these two loose dogs. So I parked, got out of my car, and tried to call them. They very very slowly walked toward me, and then kind of circled me. Neither had a collar, and both looked quite unkempt, not very friendly. As soon as I could, I got back in my car. They just freaked me out. I ;picked up my phone to call animal control, looked back and they were gone. I don't know if AC ended up finding them, if the dogs just went home, or what. I felt bad for leaving, but all I could think of was these two big mangy dogs mauling me. I don't know why. [&:]

Oh yeah, and the only dog who's ever bitten me is Cherokee. Twice. Both times I was trying to break up a fight. [8D]

I'm not afraid of any breed of dog. I will be and always am weary of any strange dog that approchs me on the street or when I'm entering a house that i dont know that dog. i find it silly to be afriad of a breed as a whole. Just becuase of a few bad apples that turn up in every breed. If i was afraid it would be ok american eskimos and chis, I have been attacked numerous times by these breeds. i still hold no grude as i said i wouldnt over some bad experiences with one breed.

    ORIGINAL: Dulce Pit Bull

I am amazed by the amount of you who have been bitten by a dog!

Could some of you tell me how that happened? I'd be interested to know.

I got attacked by my aunts chi more then once. Growing up she had a APBT and a chi. the pit was friendly to no avail, would think he was a lap dog ect and was literally the neighboor hood pet 9people kept a dish of water on their porchs for him as he lived the day outside in the neighboor hood (he would even knock on doors and was let in my neighboors(he choose to be outside my aunt would let him in when he wanted to be let in, but who would want to with all the treats and hand outs he got from every oen lol, sorry off topic there) but the chi, was just a misreable old b*tch. She would attack for no reason. at all. I still have the scar on my face. And that darn APBT never once did try to save me, it would run the other direction when the chi was on a rampage lol.

The eskimo dog I was walking with a friend. It chased us. So we hid out in a baseball cage in a aprk. This dog literally tried to dig its way in. Thus biting my leg as I tried to kick it away from the fence of the cage we were in. We yeald for over 45 mins before nay one came to our rescue. Then the dog attacked them, then us when we thought it was safe to get out.

Another eskimo dog my neighboor had two. not trained at all. and would attack when given the chance.

Now I dont hold a grude to any of these dogs. i was young and probably shouldnt have cornerd the chi. but she shouldnt have been let ou around kids.

The park dog was probably gone back to wild instincts. Maybe it had a litter nearby i dont know. So maybe it was on guard. or maybe it was just crazy lol.

The neighboors dogs were the neighboors fault. they were not trained at all they were about 5 or 6 and still not even close to house trained.

I still love both breeds. My friends chi just spent a hour yesterday currled up on my lap while I rubbed his belly while my friend did my hair. that little dog is such a love he gets over excited when he sees me (probably thinks I'm bringing over his friend which is my dog. My dog is also about 65lbs bigger then the chi and they are best friends lol.

The pnly breed of dog I have ever been attacked by are Chihuahua's. I live in teh country where all my neighbors let their dogs run around. Well my back yard is made of pig-wire so a chihuahuas can easily fit betwen the wires and into my back yard. It happens that my female baset/lab mix female was in heat and my neighbors little dog was unalterede. So he got backthrer with my dog and at first I was like 'oh how cute, she has a boyfriend' but when i went to pet my dog the chihuahua start snareling at me and the instant i put my hand on my own dogs herad it attacked my leg.

I was shocked so didnt really react and teh dog left a bruise and claw marks on my legs.( It wasnt as bad as some of the injuries my cats have given, tho. lol) I feel bad for what I did next but im sure many people would have done it if they were in my situation. I kicked the chihuahua and gave it a limp for like 3 days. The good part is that it never again attacked me. The other times I was bitten by a little dog was when they snapped at me.
I used to volunteer at an Animal shelter and my faveriot dogs to take out on walks were always the GSD's, Rotts, and the Pitts because they were so friendly.
