    black gsd, rock on. . . my gsd doesnt have a sloped back i guess that makes it American. plus i hear its better without it.

    I dont really have anything of value to add to this thread, I just wanted to say how I LOVE seeing everyones GSD pictures!!!!!

    Incorrect.  The Am line GSD (Show) typically has the sloped back.  The West German showline typically has the roach (they're breeding away from that), the East and West German working lines have straight backs.
     
    Personally, I don't like the lack of angulation in the working lines (don't like such a square dog...more angulation than they've got is needed for herding IMO), but I don't like the roach in t he German showlines, nor do I like the overangulation of some of the American showlines.
