    What is Katie?

hi, my name is amy and me and my puppy Katie are new to this forum. Just wondering if there are any educated guesses on what breeds she is? She is very smart ( she learns commands easily), she loves to dig ( for fun shes not bored or anxious), and she has *** ears, they used to be floppy when she was about 10 weeks, but now they stand up straight! Here's my baby girl...
This is her about 2 months...

    Here's her now..

Welcome Amy and Katie!  She looks a little like our little girl - Belle.  She's a lab/pit bull mix.   Your Katie's ears are so funny....and she has a great smile!

    I'd say Lab/Pitty or Lab/Border Collie...she certainly is a cutie!

She actually looks like a full pitt to me, lol

How old is Katie?  You see that wacko ear thing a lot in young Border collies, especially ones that end up with the ear set called "flying nun" or "rose" or "airplane" or many other names.

Here's my Ann at about four months old (bottom dog):

    Her littermate, same age:

    Six months:

    Eight months:

Actually, this dog looks remarkably like Ann's littermate:

Another littermate showing off the mature "airplane ear" look (these are all well-bred, purebred Border collies):

Those pictures of the BC's are hilarious, Brookcove.  I have a mini Aussie pup who is solid black with white markings and people are always asking if she's BC.  I have to laugh because she has no tail and no white collar.  She's almost 16 weeks right now and her ears are doing funny things.  Usually, when she gives me that look, with her head tilted to one side, her right ear sticks straight up and the left is down, like your Ann at eight months.  Everybody thinks it's cute and so do I to some extent, but honestly, I really wish they'd just stay down.  This is common for a puppy, I know, so she should grow out of it.  The first pic is her at about 9 weeks, the second at 15 weeks.  I don't have one of the ear sticking up, will try to take one sometime.

I have a friend with a "black-bi" Aussie.  She is a little hell raiser but SO talented at whatever she asks her to do!  Poor girl got so sick of people insisting that her dog was really a BC with a docked tail.  Our mutual friend, with whom we trained on sheep, drove her nuts telling her that her dog "worked like a Border collie."  And of course he did it to get her goat, LOL.  Though initially he meant it as a compliment.  [:D]

She looks like my pittie Boomer... His ears go crazy too, they also both stand up and touch on top of his head.
