    Any other Cane Corso owners?

Hi, I am new here.  My name is Mandy.  I live in Texas.  This is my guardian angel in a dog suit. [:D]  Jake is 4 1/2 months old and weighs 59 lbs. [:-]

I've always thought they were cute, but I've never heard an unbiased opinion about the temperament.  Do they stick really close to you or are they a little more aloof?  How do they do obedience-wise?  I've never had the chance to meet one.  You just don't see them very often.  He's absolutely precious, by the way!

I  went and spent about 5 hours with the breeder, and Jake's parents before I bought Jake.  The whole time I was there Jake's father would not leave the breeder's side.  Now that I have had Jake for about 2 1/2 months, he too is doing the same thing.  He will follow me from room to room.  My husband has tried several times to get Jake to go outside because I was busy doing something else and Jake won't go, he runs to my side and waits for ME to take him out.  This breed is aloof with strangers.  He is still a puppy and loves everyone.  As Jake gets older and biger this will change.  He will be more weary of strangers.  I went through this with my doberman.  When my doberman hit the age of about 2 he was very weary of strangers and especially men.  My doberman still loves kids and that has not changed since he was a puppy.  Since this is my first cane corso, I am not sure when his changing point will be.

Obedience is EASY!  Jake knew his name and would answer to it the second day I had him.  He learned sit, down, leave it, come, stay, and out with in the first 2 to 3 weeks that I had him.  He is 4 /2 months old and obeys to commands very well.  He now knows  around 10 commands now and still learning.  He picked up on obedience very quickly and easily.  I have been very impressed with his training.  I do all of his training myself.  I learned a lot from my doberman and going through a lot of obedience classes with him.

Thank you for the nice compliment.
