Canis Panthers?

    Canis Panthers?

Is this breed for real? Ive looked at the sight and they look like a real breed in progress, not a designer breed, and the kennel says they breed true, and are not integrating different breeds anymore.

I love them, the look of the dobie and the pit mixed together:

    Beautiful dogs.

If you look at paintings and artists renderings, these look much like the representation of the war dogs used by the Roman legions.  They are well muscled, but yet agile.  Guesses have been made as to what the Romans used, and some think it was a variant of mastiff, but I have often wondered if the mastiff wasn't too cumbersome to be agile-especially in hand to hand combat situations with people and weapons flying all over the place.  Maybe this is a breed rediscovered and that is why it is breeding true in such a short time.   Maybe dobes, rots, or even pits are really descendants of this animal.  It is really quite impressive.

I met a guy in Chicago who had two of them. He was an obedience trainer and these dogs were absolutely gorgeous and well behaved. I thought they were a Dobe mix but he said they were Canis Panthers and that he and a few other people were trying to create a new breed. I didn't get deep into a conversation with him as he was doing an obedience show but he did seem sincere about creating a new breed. Mind you, this was a good 5 years ago so I don't know what ever progressed with the Canis Panther.

Romans had mastiffs - they were simply bred to be agile - and ferocious. Mastiffs were bred as war dogs up to the 19th century. Not war service dogs, but the kinds of dogs that could wreak havoc on entire platoons - or native detachments - or civilian refugees, unfortunately. This is not to denegrate mastiffs, quite the opposite, it is a testament to what breeders have done to turn the giant breeds into today's gentle giants.

LOL, they have one dark blue labeled as a choc/black. That's not genetically possible.

I'm not a huge fan of their touted purpose of producing "personal protection" dogs, but probably it's a real need where these dogs are originating. And I'd really love to see a specific anti-dog-fighting statement.

$1500 for a five day training course? Irena Farm companion dog boot camp just opened for business! Heck, I'll even throw in some sheepdog and goosedog training.

That breeder seems a little questionable to me.  I didn't see any health test results on the breeders.  It really looked like it was promoting aggressive dogs to me.  If any dog fighter sees that, I'm sure they will want one.  The sales page also makes it sound as if he will sell to anyone who wants one.

They are realy beautiful, but, knowing that they are bred to be extreme protection dogs, I would hate to see them being sold to people who just want "the look".  A family dog, they are not.

I agree with Brookcove that there should be more on the site about an anti-dog fighting statement here.

I would be more impressed with these people if they could use a spell check and the proper words in a sentence!

Also, for $1500.00, their work had better be guaranteed!  "Your dog will be able to sit, come, down stay", etc.  Geeze, I teach this to the shelter dogs for FREE.[8|]

Well, they did say that the dogs are not animal aggressive...

Did anyone catch what breeds they used to make these dogs?  I was thinking dobes and pits, but what about the only solid colors?

This is the first time these dogs have been brought to my attention so without regard to breeding, history, or anything else that needs to be considered I have to say OMG I"M IN LOVE!!!!!!!
