    Poodle mixes....

I just got a "poogle" puppy and she's the sweetest thing. She's 1/2 poodle, 1/2 beagle.
Anyone else with poodle mixes out there? What are they like as they age? Personality? Coat? Temperment?

    Anyone?

My mixed pup (1 yr. old) is a terrier/poodle X, but she's ALL terrier...nothing poodle about her. She acts, looks, and sheds like a terrier!

wow this has been discussed a gazillion times, there are only a few with 'designer dogs' and I will say for the hundreth time that the intentional breeding and people buying these mixes for big cash is ridiculously irresponsible and sickening

...and my point is that those of us with mixed breed "mutts" (specifically "designed" or not) cannot predict personality, temperament, or coat.  If my pup has an ounce of poodle in her (as some claim), I've never seen a bit of it.  Her coat does not resemble a poodle's in any way...and her personality/  fiesty temperament is terrier through and through. Of course, training and family connection are big influences on who she is becoming...but the rest of it is a mystery...unravelling daily!

I hate to sound rude, but I wasn't asking for your personal opinion of intentional breeding of these types of dogs.  I don't want to start an argument or have a long list of replies from people hounding me about this pup.
She wasn't a "purchase", as in, I didn't go out looking to buy a designer poogle. She was a dog I acquired from a bad breeding situation, who was on her way to the pound.
That being said, I would appreciate it if no one else informed me of how "sickening" these dogs, and their breeders are. It is my opinion that these poor pups can't help being brought into this world by irresponsible breeders and there for shouldn't be punished for it. Every pup, intentionally bred or not, deserves a good chance in life. I hope I'm able to provide this pup with the loving, forever home she deserves, regardless of her breeding and characteristics.

I'm just discovering all the hate out there for poodle mixes. I'm not a fan of puppy mills, but to say that deliberately breeding a mutt is inherently "sickening" is over the top. What's so great about purebreds? Getting a purebred doesn't guarantee a certain personality. I'm not sure there is any reason to think a purebred is more likely to come from a responsible breeder.

I just adopted a mini poodle/lab mutt. (I'm avoiding the term "labradoodle" because it will make people think I'm one of those evil people who likes "designer dogs." Anyway, I'm proud to have a mutt!) She's 3/4 poodle and 1/4 lab and I think it shows. She looks and acts mostly like a poodle, with a few lab traits thrown in. And all the lab traits are positive ones! Physically, she can almost pass for a poodle, but she has a nice lab tail. She has nearly non-shedding fur, that's a bit softer than typical poodle fur. She has the people-oriented personality of a poodle with the sweetness of a lab. The combines to make her one of the most loving and eager-to-please dogs I've known. Luckily, she's smart like a poodle. (Sorry, lab fans, but those dogs are not the brightest.) All in all, a little funny looking with a great personality.
