We want to hear from you...

Now that this version of the community has been live for a couple of months, we wanted to find out what you think.

We're keen to make further improvements to help with usability and your overall experience.

So please send us your ideas by posting in this thread or alternatively, you can direct message me at 'jbrayshaw'.

We love hearing what you think and will seriously consider all your suggestions. So please do take part.

I wish the site would keep me logged in.  Why have that option if it doesn't work?

That's all for now except the paragraph break problem.

I don't like that the "Hot Topics" listed to the right are ancient threads. I'd hardly consider them "Hot". I also don't like the numerous posts done by dog.com admin to drum up interest in the forums that simply clog up the main page so it is hard to find the few active "real" threads. The format change has driven a lot of people away with the endless ads and other issues. Hardly anyone posts to these "fake" threads. The sense of community we once had is gone.

Hi Sharismom. Thanks for your comments. Appreciate you sharing them. We're testing various different approaches to increasing our audience. You'll see less posts from DOG.com now that we've completed some tests - although they're not meant to be fake - just things we hope you will find interesting. We'll review the way Hot Topics are generated. All I can say is that we appreciate your feedback and hope you'll help us to continue to improve. Jonathan

Kaitlin, I'll try that and see if it helps.

I agree with both of Tina's points.  It makes me sad so many long-term users have disappeared, but I'm not sure how that can be remedied.  For those of us not on Facebook, those connections are just gone.

As I've said before, I personally don't like a lot of graphics and busy-ness when I read any website, so I tend to avoid the main "sticky" page.  Instead, I just click on the Discussion Forums tab and try to find threads that people are currently participating in.  So, I would like to see that "flat view" option remain.

I also like that I can post a photo easily by just pulling it from my computer, rather than having to use PhotoBucket or something like that.

It really should keep you logged in. Have you reset your browser cache recently? We are going to improve quickpost so that the formatting behave more logically.

From what I can see, and the data I've reviewed, as well as what I've been told, users started to leave well before the upgrade.

I get that not everyone likes the grid view, I really do, but it is part and parcel of the new experience, and I am confident that with time and some further tweaking, it will become easier to use and for some users a great way of getting involved in the community. But this is about choice.

The forum thread view that you refer to @tacran is not going away ever and for those of you that prefer a more traditional view you can always access it here: http://community.dog.com/g/

We're trying to give you the best of both worlds. Jonathan

I was/am having the not staying logged in problem too.  While I can't say that's the main reason I haven't posted, it is one of them.  I read stuff and think about commenting, but then see that I'm not logged in and just don't bother.  I just now cleaned my cache, we'll see if that makes a difference.

I do almost all of my social computer stuff from my phone.  Accessing this site from my phone has never been great.  There is a forum app, Tapatalk, it would be awesome if this site was compatible with that.

It has ebbed and flowed here, which is pretty typical. There always has been a core group and there were lots of active threads. Now, not so much.

Agreed.  While the largest number of members left when Facebook really took off, there was still a core group (albeit smaller than it was 2-3 years ago) right up until the latest change.  I can think of at least a dozen people who used to post nearly everyday whom I've not seen more than a couple times (or at all) on this new format.  Maybe those folks would've left anyway, but maybe the problem of not staying logged in and other quirks were the final straw for some folks.

Am I hallucinating or was there a post on this thread from Kaitlin concerning the log in problem?

Anyway, I cleaned my browser cache.  We'll see if that helps.

Still logged in this morning. :)

Staying logged in didn't last long.  I've checked in here a few times today and was logged in but just now at 7:22 PM CST, I had to sign in again.

Having same problem here with the log in not lasting.
