POLL: How does your dog feel about grooming?

    • Gold Top Dog

Rocky enjoys bathtime but doesnt want it to last too long cause he's got varmits to chase.

Hot hates baths, it is sooooo difficult to get water on him.

Both boys like the brushing part.  Rocky enjoys it but if something gets his attention elsewhere then so be it.

Hot absolutely loves to be brushed.... anywhere.... neck, ears, back, belly, but NOT THE TAIL!  He would be happy if you brushed him forever and never quit!  If I change to brush Rocky he will get up and move in front of Rocky until Rocky will finally move.   He doesnt mind if I use the spray bottle on him with SSS/Water/Alcohol mixture.  If my hands didnt give out I would love to see just how long he would let me brush him before he has enough!  Sleep

Gingerbread and Peanut both come running to me when they see grooming tools. I guess they think it's relaxing or maybe they're just waiting for the treat at the end, I'm not sure.

Lily loves everything grooming related. She will shove other dogs out of the way to be groomed. She even likes the blow dryer.

Neiko puts on an act like he hates the dryer but in reality, he likes it. He does not like his rear brushed though.

Abbie is ok with grooming but is terrified of the dryer.

Sunshine and scarlett have never been introduced to grooming as far as I can tell so I'm going slow with them. They are starting to appreciate the attention that grooming brings. I don't think they will ever like the dryer though.

Bella loves a shampoo and brush. She enjoys the attention I think. She especially likes to go to the groomers and get a bath and cut. She is always happy to see her. The only thing she has a problem with is nail trimming and that is a mild problem. :)

Anything that gives her attention and eventual belly rubs is loved.  She loves to be brushed.

She loves the attention. My DH was forced to cut a good portion of her coat short when she escaped across a field loaded with prickly plants and they stuck to her beautiful double coat. Since that time several years ago he trims her himself and although she looks like a mess at times with bald spots etc. we still think she's gorgeous! No she doesn't have one of those fancy cuts like a poodle but she doesn't know it.   She doesn't especially care for water, unusual for a lab mix.  We did take her to a groomer once but she was there all day & they didn't succeed in clipping her, just washing and brushing her.  Guess it depends who's doing the grooming.

I bathed and brushed out all 3 dogs today, cat to come later.  They are all very different about grooming.

Maggie: She has a VERY heavy undercoat and thus when I do brush or bathe her it takes twice to three times the time and brushing.  She really dislikes the brushing unless I use a Zoom Groom - but of course to get the undercoat out I have to use an undercoat rake.  Baths she tolerates when the water is warm, she acts abused if the water is cool (like today since we were outside). While being brushed she oh so casually inches further and further away, especially if I'm sitting vs. standing.

Ziva: LOVES brushing - almost too much as it causes her to flop around a ton, making brushing her topline difficult.  She tolerates baths with a look of pure disgust in her eyes.

Kes: This was bath number 2 for him and he did quite well.  Like all the dogs, he loves when the soap is rubbed into the coat and playing with the towel after.  He's def the "I've got better things to do" type when it comes to brushing, but he also is fairly fascinated by the shedding blade lol so that makes things interesting at times.

Lacie - would prefer to never see a brush.

Keisha - seems to enjoy it.

Rex - loves any attention at all, and brushing is just one more way to get attention!

Zoe - seems to enjoy it

    Jazzy - loves it

Charly don't like showers... I don't know how to say it in English, but let my mum do it on him.

    Sorry for my worse sentence...

Despite introducing the brush to Ari at a young age, lining up tasty tidbits, smearing peanut butter everywhere, she despises being brushed, doesn't like nail clippings and is tolerant of a bath.  Thankfully, she rarely needs to be brushed, despite her featherings.  During her bath is when I brush her and that seems to be sufficient.  If I need to brush her out any other time, it usually involves me sneaking up to her on the sly (brush in back pocket, treats in another) and tackling her to the ground and giving her a quick go over with the brush (no flatcoat is harmed lol, actually this turns directly into a play session for her and she thinks its fun)

My older dog kind of hate it.. my younger one just loves it! She thinks its massage time when she sees me pull the brush out.

I don't do a lot of brushing to either of mine, but Lina LOVES a bath and to have her nails trimmed (I use the pedipaws thing and she loves it lol). Boss can take it or leave it. He doesn't like his nails being trimmed though.

Pearl loves her bath. just say the word bath and she goes and stands by the tub. Doesnt mind having her nails done either. She really likes to be groomed.
