How does your dog react to strangers coming into your home?

B will bark insanely and jump (not on people, just in general) After she's gotten acquainted and settled down, she will tirelessly follow the person around the house until they leave. If there are multiple people, she'll pick the biggest guy and beg for petting as much as possible. Ellie doesn't actually seem to notice the difference between family and strangers, and will search them for food, do a dance, and leave to do something else. When B starts barking, Ellie starts howling just to sing along.

Wyatt barks when someone knocks on the door, but both are so friendly when someone comes in. They usually do a lot of sniffing, which i try to discourage because kaiser always leaves wet nose prints, and a lot of people are nervous @ first. They have never jumped on a stranger, but tend to jump on my mom when she comes over. Kaiser loves company and i've had a lot of parties and he socializes the entire time and brings his ball to random people. Every time i've had a party people rave about how much they love Kaiser. Wyatt's friendly, but would prefer to be upstairs in my bed, so that's where he goes after he socializes for about 10 minutes.

If it's someone that we know, Gingerbread gets really excited and wants attention. He stands on his hind legs with his paws up in the air like a lobster. lol If it's someone that we don't know, but they don't look intimidating, he's curious and interested. He usually warms up in about 30 seconds. If it's a maintenance man, cable guy or anybody like that he gets really worked up. He does this loud Beagle bark and I put him in the other room with a baby gate up.

Peanut barks and is wary, but he creeps up to them with his tail wagging. He's friendly, but does keep a certain distance.

If it is someone we know then our older dog Sativa will just bark until we tell her to stop. Bandit our 1 yr old just runs around the door till they sit down. We are still working on this. If we don't know the people then they both will bark like to kill but Sativa will stop on comand, but Bandit will run around the house and sit and watch the person and give a low growl. He is really caution around strangers. We know if someone comes in our yard or around our house or up/down the alley. They are good dogs.

Sadie and Timmy both run to the door and start a full body wiggle. They will let out a couple of barks before they are at the door, but once at the door they just wiggle. They love to meet new people, Timmy snffs them and checks them out and looks for pets. Sadie usually gets lost behind Timmy somewhere. If its someone we know, they usually knock and come in, the dogs rush them excitedly and try to be petted, Timmy sometimes will jump up (we are working on this with him). If its a stranger their reaction is the same except we rarely invite them in! hahaha. If someone is coming over that has not met Timmy, we tell them to knock and wait for us to let them in. I don't know how Timmy would react to a stranger walking into our house, better safe than sorry.

The dogs are super excited for about five minutes then they settle down - Sadie goes back to lying on the couch and Timmy wanders around trying to get someone to play with him, unless we interfere and tell him to go lie down.

If there is someone in the drive way, or walking onto the deck, i can say "Bailey, whos that?" and he will go on alert and check every window in the house looking for someone/something. If its someone he doesnt know very well, or doesnt know at all, he will bark, and his hair will go up. He wont bark at me, my mom, a few of my close friends that he knows well, and couple other friends of the family/relatives that hes met before. But he will bark at my dad. bailey doesnt like my dad very much. And im sure its because he knows my dad doesnt like him very much. "Bailey isnt a purebred, and he came from the pound, so he will never be a "good" dog" Huh? "And he sheds too much"...
When someone knocks at the door, he will bark if i tell him to, otherwise i tell him to sit/down stay, and let whoever it is in, and then he can give um a good snif, then go back to whatever he was doing. If its someone he doesnt know, he usualy sticks around, he likes the "watch" new people, once he sees us talking to them and stuff then hes ok and will go back to his bed.
