Caine Waste Services - yes or no?

Caine Waste Services - yes or no?

My DH wants to begin a business of Canine Waste Cleanup and beleives there is a real need in our community and surrounding area.  However, I am not sure.  We did some research and found that there are many companies that do this type of clean up and there is non in our area.

I am curious how many of you dog owners would enlist the services of a Canine Waste Clean up Service for a resonable price?

    1 dog, weekly, $10.00

    2 dogs, weekly, $15.00

    3 dogs, weekly, $20.00

Sounds like a job for Mike Rowe. Wink

Since we live out in the country, Rupert mostly does his business in the woods. I would consider it if I lived in the city and had a small yard. Although I think for one dog, $40/month is a little high.

I would not use it, but there are many such businesses in San Antonio.  I do not know what they charge.

To me owning a dog/dogs, is expensive enough, and I would just as soon pick up my own dogs waste, and save what money I had for other things.

I have a friend that does it.  It is a part time business at this point, and most of the customers are upscale homeowners or apartment buildings/property management companies.  She is not the only service in the area, and at least one of the others seems to have a few employees.  I guess it depends on the area you serve.  This is an affluent area, with lots of service businesses.

I probably wouldn't spend the money myself at this point in life, we're retired. But if I had the extra money I would hire the service. Our son & his wife do use a service like this for their 2 boxers & they're happy with it. They have 2 young kids, so getting out to pick up the yard is necessary but so easy to find the time.

I would use a service like that if I had a yard LOL! I think those prices sound reasonable too. The services around here that do that all have funny names. My favorite one is "pooh nanny".

I would not, because Rascal's poops are pretty minuscule. If I had a large dog or several dogs in the suburbs with a backyard, though, I might consider it.

I know my boyfriend would go for the service in a heartbeat! Especially if it included "accidents" in the house, lol!

I'm not sure i get this...Are you offering to go into someones backyard and pick up their dogs poop? Who would use such a service?Would you only go once a week?I dont know if i could leave poops in the yard for that long, especially so for those with kids.

Personally i wouldnt use this service.Firstly i'de be too embarrassed and would feel bad for the poor sod who had to pick up my dogs poop, and i am not so bone lazy as to not be able to pick up  one or two poops a day.

Thank you for all your responses. Actually there are quite a few services around that do this.  I can't see were it would make enough money to make it worth his while but he seems to think so.  We have a lot of townhouse's and surrounding affluent communities in our area, our town alone has several parks too there is actually a guy we see around town called the poop doctor. Tongue Tied

My husband is always looking for a quick way to make some extra bucks and he think could be an opportunity for quick cash, unless the poop doctor has the market cornered.

Yes, he would go into peoples yard and clean up there dogs poop, like we don’t have enough in our own yard and as for once a week is not enough – you would hire him to come in as many times a week or month that you would need.  I guess he would figure that pricing out as he went along.

I wouldn't personally use it. I just clean up the poo when my dog does her business and it doesn't pile up. So there's no need for a service for me. It's really not that big of an inconvenience to me to clean up after her once or twice per day. Not much different than cleaning out the litter box really. There's no service for that Stick out tongue

I do know there are several services like it in my area though. I've never looked into them so I don't know how much they charge and I'm having trouble pulling up anything about them on google. Okay, nevermind... here's an example: http://www.k9pooppatrol.net/Prices.html . Seems awfully crazy to me. Your husband's idea seems much more reasonable. lol.

The only bill I don't mind paying is the $56 per month to my pooper scooper. She picks up after my three med. size dogs every Thursday mornings. It is the only task that I can not let go. Geeked  When I first heard about this type of service I thought is sounded crazy....but, when my son moved out and my husband hurt his ankle and I had to pick up, I changed my mind.

Seriously?  You can leave a weeks worth of poop?  I've got six gsds and for the most part they all go twice a day....so that's 12 piles a day typically.  Even half of that is one heck of a lot of poop!  That would really bother me knowing it was there, and I would think it would smell?

    • Puppy

If I had 6 GDS, I could not wait a week, but I have half the number of dogs and they are between 40 and 50lbs. They all do their business out by the fence. There is no smell.

Oh, I'm sorry, I wasn't being critical.  I just live with so many large dogs that it's standard procedure for me to go out in the morning before they go out and do a quick poop patrol.  My guys are 65-90 lbs and because of their diet, have pretty small poops, but I can't imagine being able to WAIT a whole week!  Even with the cockers I'd go out at least a couple times a week   I'm not fond of wintertime because then we get a bunch of frozen poop buried in the snow and as it thaws.....wow.

I guess I just, because of my situation, find it really astounding to be able to WAIT for a week.  That'd be pretty cool!
