Little dogs.....

Manchas is a whimp he got scared last night when he saw a plastic bag stuck on our fence outside where as Kanicas seems to be more brave.

I so totally agree with what you've said.  My Yorkie is only 4 months old but is very socialized.  He lives with an Aussie and Blue heeler, he does get picked up and carried (because he's just soooo cute), but he's also left to walk on his own.  I live out in the country and he goes out with the other dogs, we've gone exploring in the woods and let run in the open (with me supervising of course). He's only been on a leash a few times. he goes to town with me and 'hangs out' at the feedstore and the tire shop.  Everyone in town knows Tater already and he likes everyone so far.  He's handled by many different people and doesn't mind it at all, but in the end, he comes to Mommy Big Smile  But he does have a winter coat, hoodie and tshirts for the cold.

I think that if little dogs are socialized to many humans, all different size dogs (safe larger ones, of course), and kids of all sizes, they become well adjusted dogs that can walk on the ground and not snap at everything they see.  If they are carried everywhere, dressed up but not walked like dogs outdoors, and generally treated as if they own your lap, your bed, and the crook of your arm, they will become nasty or fearful little PITA that are not a pleasure to live with at all.  Socialization, training, exercise - just like the big dogs...

    I totally agree.
