Your dog's name...

My daughter picked Bella's name. She said she wanted to give her a graceful name.

Bug is actually short for Ladybug. Again my daughter named her. My son started calling her Bug though because thats the type of dog she was advertised as being, a Buggs (boston terrior/pug mix).

    Dogs:

Kasia- Kasia (Kass-ee-ah) means "pure" in Greek, because she is a pure joy!

Finnegan- I just thought that it was a cool name!

Harlow- I wanted something unique, because she is a bit of a unique looking dog.

Dublin- Again, a cool, unusual name. Plus, DH really liked it when I suggested it.

    Cats:

Bentley- I named him this because that's what he looks like- a sleek, shiny black Bentley.

Quigley- My SIL came up with the name and I liked it, so it stuck.

Rowdie:  named after Clint Eastwood's Rowdie Yates

Annie:  Annie Heiser Busch :  My 17 year old son named her , go figure!!  At least he didn't name her Bud.

Tater:  Bar BL Sweet P-Tater:  our ranch brand plus.  One day last summer I saw a little red heeler pup and wanted her, telling hubby I would call her sweet potato.  Didn't get her! The name stuck in my head when I got Tater.

My sister in law has dogs all named after liquor! Tangueray, Mimosa, Mohito, and Daquirie.

Rudie Wonderdog- when we first found her she had really bad kennel cough and was being used as a teaching aid at the Royal Veterinary College, this meant we had a few weeks between meeting her and bringing her home. My family battled it out and her name was almost poppy until late one evening the movie Rudy was on tv... we liked it but rudy was a boy... We decided to name her after the youngest daughter in "The Cosby Show".

My mum has Lola Wonderpup and Willow Wondermutt.... Think she just liked the names and added the wonder-part to match rudies name.

    Hmmm my dogs:

Whiskey was named because he was the color of whiskey. I had always thought it was a good name for a golden retriever, but his name was *almost* BoSox, because we got him shortly after the red sox won the world series, and my ex-husband and I both were HUGE red sox fans. We were actually calling him BoSox, but the next day he climbed up on the coffee table and started drinking a tumbler my ex had set down that had jack daniels in it. Immediatly, we changed his name back to Whiskey ;) His full name is Melodymaker's Gentleman Jack, CGC TDInc, because he has such a great personality and is such a gentleman :)

Maya was named because I had always, always wanted a siberian and had begged for one for years. When I was 16 my mother decided to let me have one, on the agreement that I get a show puppy and show her. (She showed dobermans at the time) Maya meant "Mine" so I had that name picked out for a girl, LOL. To compromise with my younger sister who was a huge grateful dead fan, Maya's full name is CH. Kristari's Sugar Magnolia, CGC

Taz, my fiance's daughter renamed. She is 4, and she never really liked big dogs (She is getting there slowly) because before she came to live with me she had only been around 1 big dog, an akita that died before she was a year old, and we figured she didn't remember him. His name was Taz. After that she only knew Maya and Whiskey and even after 2 years she really hasn't bonded with them unless they are perfectly still and laying down. The first time Ashley met my Taz, she immediatly took to her and started following her around and loving on her, and out of the blue she started calling her Taz. I was too excited that she was bonding with her to care about what name she chose, so Taz it is!

S.A.M, my cat was originally named Alex, but we quickly changed it to Sam because he had the habit of leaping from the floor and climbing up the doorframe to the ceiling. So we named him SAM for surface to air missle :)

Kabuki, our other cat was named because she loves to dance when you pet her.

Pixel, my cat that now lives with my ex husband, I named for Robert Heinlens "the cat who walks through walls" because Pixel was braindamaged and would run into walls and doors. I know, we were mean to tease him for that.

Milo, my macaw, we named for the cat in "Milo and Otis" because she is SO myschievious and always getting into trouble. I always get a lot of "Why did you name a girl Milo?" but it just fits her personality so well because she is just constantly getting into things. Anyway, im a girl and my name is Shawn so why cant a girl be Milo ;)

Well, my current dog is a yellow Labrador by the name of Quail. Unusual, yes? She was named such by the volunteers at the Guiding Eyes for the Blind Breeding Center. They keep track of dogs by naming the first litter of the years puppies with all names starting with 'A', the next litter with 'B' names and so forth. Quail came from the 'Q' litter of 2003. I trained her when she was a puppy, hoping she would soon grow up to help a visually impaired person to see. Unfortunately, she did not have the courage required and I adopted her. Since then I have also trained puppies Carson and Ralston for Guiding Eyes. Both excellent dogs who went far.

Rusty: named because he had kind of a rust color going as he was growing up. He has a few nicknames such as Rustovio, Rustefer, Rustafa (he reminds of us of the lion king) RuRu, and whatever else we come up with. I originally wanted to name him Trooper but I got ruled out.

Bloo (pronounced blue): Up to about 4 or 6 months he had the bluest eyes, like the color of the sky on a a bright day. They were beautiful. I, again was ruled out, wanted to name him Jax since to me he looked like one. It didnt stick so they decided with Bloo and we spelled it with the double o's so that it looks more like a name than a color. His nicknames are Blooberry, Bloo Bear, Boo Boo and whatever else.

Buddy-  We debted forever over a name for him and nothing we came up with suited him so my father in law started calling him buddy because we had yet to name him and was tried of calling him puppy lol, well it stuck. Later on I asked him why Buddy? and his response was "well watch him, where ever you go he is right behind you, he is a buddy." I thought this was so cute because it is completely true,to this day if any of us are out in the garage or out horse back riding he will be right with you following the whole way.

Chloe- We had her for about a week before we named her and cycled through tons of names. I always try to get to know them alittle before I permently stick her with something. It came down to two choices. She has always been a crazy mess of a dog I have ever seen even as a 4pound puppy she would get into so much trouble, so we came up with devious as it seemed good with her nutty JRT personality. The other was Chloe, I dont know why or how but for some reason I liked it. It was cute just like her so thats what I picked.

They both have random nicknames. Buddy- Booboo, bubba, bubs and so on. Chloe- monkeyunkey girl (she has this orange stuffed monkey that she carrys everywhere), toe-toe, clobo, and there are many others but these are the most popular.
