Tooth brushing!

You know, we also never brushed the teeths of our dogs and they are perfect. But sometimes we help them with extra teeth when they are puppies. We pull them out.

As for humans I heard that you can brush your teeth with apple. Eat an apple and your teeth will be clean. Garlic is the best way to keep your teeth in health.

Nope, that's what RMBs are for :)

Both my dogs get their teeth brushed every night. In addition to that, they get dental chews/bones, but the bones really don't do a satisfactory job imo because if I let up on the brushing for a week or so their breath and teeth get noticbly less clean.

Yes, I trained my dogs to fully cooperate in getting their teeth brushed since they were puppies. I brush their teeth nightly and they actually expect it. We use Petrodex toothpaste and just a regular human toothbrush. We also use Petzlife as a supplement twice per week and their teeth are in great shape!

Can't be with a human toothpaste besides Biotene you know, right??

I try to brush my dogs teeth every night. My question is "What is the best way to clean a dog's toothbrush"? The chicken flavored toothpaste is not easy to clean like regular toothpaste is for humans. Here is my blog posting on the "tooth brushing" subject and a demo of brushing my Samoyed and American Eskimo's teeth. http://markandkimshow.com/how-often-do-you-brush-your-dogs-teeth/2103/ Kim http://markandkimshow.com http://twitter.com/MarkandKimShow

I've even tried a few things in the water too and she won't drink the water.  I do have the PetzLife Gel that I use sometimes but she doesn't like the smell of it and to be honest neither do I.

My dogs hated that stuff, but they will drink the water with the Ark Naturals stuff in it.   I can't use marrow bones any more for Sioux because she badly fractured a carnassial tooth on one (who would think that she would be the hardest chewer in the house LOL?)  and had to have surgery to remove it.  My dogs are on grain free food, so it isn't as bad as the other.  All teeth looked good at last check up.

I don't brush either of my boxers they get plenty of beef bones, pig ears as well as chew bones with Sasha's allergies I have to be very careful on what I get for her or for Toro as she has a tendency to kick his butt if she decides he got something she didn't...lol. Their vet always comment on how nice their teeth look and never mentioned anything about the need for brushing their teeth.

I use PetzLife oral care spray.  I have better results using it than brushing.  I think there are other products on the market that work the same way as PetzLife.

We use dentastix and cet chews.  Their teeth are pretty good, not great.  If only I would have started toothbrushing when they were puppies....Anyway, I ran into a woman at the park that uses a regular sonic toothbrush on her poodles and the teeth look great.

We have recently inherited a 10 yr old Bichon Frize. He's a small adorable dog with lots of personality and terrible teeth and breath. What's the best way to get his teeth and breath cleaned up?

Garlic! Great for your teeth, bad for your breath? Haha!

The BEST thing, if they are already bad, is to have a professional cleaning done by your vet. Bad teeth can lead to MANY other health problems, because there is so much bacteria in the tarter.
