    Driving with Your Dog!

There has been much debate on the proper way to ride in the car with your dog, so we want to know.

Do you take them with you?
Do your dogs ride in a create when you travel? Roam free?
    Let us know your thoughts!

My dogs are always crated in the car. No restraint system is perfect but letting them ride loose is far too dangerous for the dog and the humans.

I completely agree, but sadly DH doesn't worry about such things, so it's a major source of contention in our house.  No amount of pleading or sharing scary examples changes his behavior.  It will take all the strength I have not to cry "I told you so!" if/when something happens when Ruby is in DH's truck.  She does stay in the backseat, but she's loose.  I fret about it all the time.

If Ruby rides with me in my car, then I can control things, so she wears a harness that has a thing that clips into the seatbelt receptacle.  If I had a larger vehicle, I'd use a crate.  Her safety is very important, but frankly, it's more because I don't want her bugging me by trying to get in the front seat or snuffling at the side of my head while I'm driving.
