    Tail docking...

    Agree or disagree?

I have made the same point with ears....is it any worse then circumsizing a baby at birth?

Were I don't think it is the same a circumcising a baby, at all, I don't agree with it. I just can't see what good it does for the dog or the dogs quality of life.  Curious to hear the other side of this.

Does the baby remember it? Probably not. I did some reading and I understand in the past it made sense as herding dogs and cart pulling dogs had their tails docked to prevent them from being stepped on and caught up in the cart. It would be far more painful, I would think to have a tail stepped on by a 2,000 bull as an adult dog as oppose to a quick snip when they are 2 days old. From what I read the AKC allows natural tails and ears now. I guess their are still people out there who like the look of docked tails and cropped ears. I guess if its done properly (tails I mean) I don't see an issue, but ears bug me, that seems like a total reconstruction and takes long to heal.
