• Wowser!! What's all that noise?

Well it's raining here today and all 17 of my little darlins are acting like little kids who can't go out to play. Woof Woof. What a racket. Normally it is actually really quiet here unless someone comes to the door. Right now though we are remodeling so all the darlins are in an uproar and to...

  • Can someone help me get my puppy off of canned food....!!

I have a Lab/Springer mix puppy about 4 months old. Right now she is eating a canned food and I know that isn't good for her teeth in the long run but I can't seem to get her to eat anything other that the canned food. Is there anyone else experiencing the same thing, any suggestions?? Teri

So, anyone reading this should know that I had some technical difficulties with this site in the beginning and I couldn't get it up right away. Then, well, my professional life was altered a bit, so needless...

  • Re: TOTW

Starsen Chihuahuas has compiled a great listing of her research on calcium levels in many commercial foods: http://members.cox.net/starsen/CALCIUMDRY.html The TOTW formulas are there - unfortunately, as you can see, the Ca level is pretty high and may not be suitable for puppies. Based on the great feedback...

  • The Socialization Period

Recently, I watched a video by Pia Sylvani, who is the head of the behavior department at St. Hubert's in NJ. They offer private consultations on aggressive dogs and had kept statistics on them from 1999-2007. The one thing I found striking was that there were about as many male as female dogs that...

  • Re: Early Spay vs Growth
I "heard" (and my recent vet confirmed) every heat cycle a female has can increase the chances of a variety of issues (ie breast cancer) which were risks I didn't want. I think people messing with genetics is the biggest issue.
There can also be...
