[quote user="marv800"] After a long day of attention from new people, she was tired and went straight to her crate to lie down. I saw this as an opportunity to close the door because I figured she wouldn’t potty in the crate. I closed the door while she was asleep and everything was fine until...

I imagine you probably have things under more control now, because you're puppy is a bit older, *content removed, advertising* There's another article in the blog about crate training, too. Now is the time to take it slowly, and work up from ground zero, instead of pushing the puppy too quickly...

  • Re: Crating your dogs is a terrible thing???

he he he, send that woman a basenji puppy. One like this one . . . When I rescued my Basenji, Penny, she was very ill with mange, hookworms, roundworms, dehydration, and malnutrition. While I had great hopes that she would heal into a happy, healthy dog, the first few weeks were rough. She was hairless...

  • Is crate training cruel?

About 6 months ago I got a golden retriever puppy. The kids and I loved it, but we were having a TERRIBLE time training it. I read some books and got some advice from friends but nothing seemed to work. I finally tried the 'crate' method and it seems to be working quite well for me. Has anyone...

  • Puppy Peeing in Crate! PLEASE HELP!

I have a 6 month old female miniature dachshund. I got her at 8 weeks old and began crate training her from the beginning. She did great for the first month, only peeing a few times in her crate. After having a reaction to a shot, she had diarrhea in her crate and made a huge mess in it. This was the...

  • Re: Crate Training

When starting to crate training a dog, you must decorate the crate as a place which is comfortable to rest and attractive to your dogs. Presume the crate as the bedroom for your dog, bedroom which will be attractive to your dog to stay there for longer period of time. I would recommend starting crate...

Hi, I would suggest you to crate train your pup instead of locking him in the toilet. When i first brought Nina ( my pup) home, she always pee when she get excited - when we back home, visitors to our house, a lot of people gathering. As long as she is happy and get excited she will pee. This is because...

  • New Puppy Whining for hours in Crate -- Please help!

Yesterday was our first day with our new lab puppy. I know what you're thinking .... I am a new dog owner who had no idea what to expect. On the contrary, I have had many dogs and have raised a puppy in the past using a crate. I knew there would be an adjustment period that includes whining. But...

  • Crying in the Crate....

Okay... so I've been crate training Cowboy for about 3 months now, and he's been doing fantastic up until recently. He has begun to start crying right after he has been placed inside. I've done a full body check to see if anything is wrong, as well as left a bully stick, and a toy or two...

Mentholated Vicks Vapor Rub works much better than Bitter Apple to discourage chewing! Nasty stuff. Crate training: http://www.clickersolutions.com/articles/spt/SPT_Crate_Training_Info.htm http://www.wonderpuppy.net/canwehelp/crate.htm
