  • A Pitbull at Petsmart?! Are they insane?!?!

Luna woke up cold today. It rained last night and she doesn't have any type of shelter to keep her dry. She lives in sunny Los Angeles where it's been perfect weather for months now. But the water finally came. She loves water, but she doesn't love it THAT much... Thankfully, the sun was...

  • Re: Ever heard of a fence for thos Killer dogs of yours?

WOW! Here in NC, the Animal Control Officer told my dad that if a stray dog comes in your yard, you have the right to shoot it. Darn right I am gonna shoot it, especially if it is after my daughter. It's not right that people let their dogs run loose, knowing that the dogs are aggressive.

  • Nipping other dogs at park while playing

Our approximately 7 month old female German Shepherd mix loves to run/chase other dogs at the leash free park. Quite often, 5 or 6 dogs will chase one dog in particular, before changing up and going after another in the running group. Our girl will sometimes be chased, but most often is the chaser. It...

  • Akita vs. Shar Pei (Aggressive / Fighting)

I have 3 dogs and the oldest (Rufus) and the youngest (Mikko) fight at every opportunity they get. There is usually no warning signs like growling or lunging either which is what scares me the most. It seems so sudden and quick and has cost me 2 trips to the emergency vet clinic and thousands of dollars...

  • Long Story about Aggression & trying to find a home for our dog. Also in Blogs.

I have a problem.. I need to find a home for our (aggressive) yet sweet (!) dog. We adopted a "beautiful blue-eyed baby girl", as one onlooker called her, from a rescue group back in September 2002. She was born in June, 2002, and we brought her home in September of 2002. She was so cute! They...

  • New Dog & Old Dog Aggression - What to Do?

Help! We recently adopted a 5 year old German shorthair pointer, a spayed female. She joined our family of five plus an 8-year old Choclolate Lab, neutered male. The two dogs don't seem to like one another, and we had seen some growling and snapping. Yesterday at feeding time, the two got into a...

  • Cage Aggression

My 13-year old Shar Pei Mix HATES being in his cage. I have to put him there at night and during the day because he starts fights with my other 2 dogs. He will go to his cage (which is in the basement area) willingly because he knows he will get a treat, but as soon as the treat is gone, he starts growling...

  • The Socialization Period

Recently, I watched a video by Pia Sylvani, who is the head of the behavior department at St. Hubert's in NJ. They offer private consultations on aggressive dogs and had kept statistics on them from 1999-2007. The one thing I found striking was that there were about as many male as female dogs that...

  • dog aggression towards the kids

My 5-month-old Staffordshire Terrier is being aggressive towards the kids in the house (6 kids - ages 4 to 18), especially around feeding time. She has been aggressive towards my wife and I in the past, but not within the past month or so. She has not bitten anyone but will sometimes growl (in an extremely...

  • Re: dog aggression towards the kids

She is not just aggressive at feeding time, she is also aggressive with her toys and the kids toys. I don't want the kids to walk around scared of her at home, they are scared to even take one of their shoes from her because she growls at them so viciously. I don't want to have to find her a...
