Thank you all, all good vibes and prayers appreciated. Update: Weekend reports on Jasmine good on vitals, but very disheartening and depressing on the legs. Also the weekend icu DVM again had a hard time accepting the fact that her legs were fully functional prior the event (stuck on the normal post op development I guess). Eventually I was told the legs are not a priority, since not life threatening unlike the other issues. Very worried, very depressed. Her legs and mobility ARE a priority to Jasmine

:-( Well, they do feel confident that she should make it through ok... This is the most advanced place she could be in - veterinary teaching hospital - that's where all ontario vets learn. Lots of equipment, lots of specialists. I am worried about the too slowly improving mobility. Responsive and alert otherwise, the problem seems to be focused on the body. Went to visit, brought a shirt. She was under mild sedation, calm.

Hi all lovely supportive souls. Some good news today. Platelets jumped to 63 (safe margin is around 50), surgery done, no bleeding issues during the surgery, abscess was attached to fat tissue, so it came out beautifully, arrhythmia also seems to be resolving ... The state of the muscle strenght isn't clear at this point (since she wasn't mobile), but neurological or other bad causes seemed to have been eliminated also.

Jasmine in icu - long painful story. Also if all goes well surgery tomorrow. Offered the option of visiting her. While I know she'd be very happy to see us, I am worried about the leaving part. Won't that be leaving her all over again? I figure she accepted her situation, don't want to make her have to do that all over again. What do you feel would be best for her? To visit or not to visit?

yes, stinking up the shirt to bring in but the visit, when she'll see us she'll expect to come home with us ... she likes other people, but hates being left :-(

Yes, we talk to her all the time too and she understands more than we'd like. She definitely knows the words I'll be back and stuff. But she also really hates being left behind or secluded. So I'm really torn trying to figure out what would be better for HER. I'll explain what happened when I'm emotionally more stable.

There is no doubt she'd be happy to see us. It's the leaving part I'm concerned about. But you have a good point that she just might feel exhausted enough ...
