Re: Good vibes for Kenya

She is fine all night and was fine this morning. She's here under my desk at work. No dogs allowed, but we work in the back corner of the basement of the library, and she is small (well 50lbs) and quiet so even the people in the next cubicle don't know she's here. Confinement will not be an issue for her, she has always loved crates. When we travel, she always gets her crate and prefers to stay in there unless she's on my lap. I've just always figured that since she's good

Re: TGIF Chat

OMG this week has SUCKED! DH's grandma died, travel and the funeral was stressful, the father of a guy I know (and husband of my my mom's friend) hung himself, Nikon is limping again but b/c of the funeral I lost my last vacation day and the money I'd saved for his x-rays, our dog training club has major drama going on and is basically non-existant right now, last night Kenya eats the sextuple dose of anti-convulsants intended for a 250lb man, this morning I overslept. I need a margarita

Re: Good vibes for Kenya

Cita, Kenya is the same way. However her anxiety is more neurologically rooted, it's not really the same as separation anxiety (she does not howl or get destructive when I leave). So I can see where in some cases, the crate can be worse, but in other cases better.

Re: Ena Bean spins in circles

Kenya is a spinner too, one of the neurotic behaviors she has. Basically, if she is not sleeping or doing something else that you tell her to do, she will spin. She stops the second you command her to do something else or just say "eh, stop", but if her mind has nothing *else* to focus on, she spins. I used to be really frustrated with it, but lately I am less and less. This is one of three or four neurotic behaviors that she has. I know if she had the choice she would not be doing it.

Good vibes for Kenya

Kenya is not feeling well. She OD'd on a very heavy duty prescription drug and has vomited 7 times. She has been cleared by the vet but still feels yucky.

Re: Good vibes for Kenya

She seems OK, just tired looking. She ate up to 7 pills (that's how many were left in this bottle). Kenya weighs 50lbs and DH weighs over 200lbs. The dose of one pill is a dose that DH had to work up to. The vets and techs did a LOT of research for us. The vet seems pretty unconcerned about any serious or long term effects, other than possible sickness and odd mood changes over then next 48 hours. This drug isn't really used with dogs, there is very little information on its effects so a

Re: Good vibes for Kenya

Kim, this is a new behavior for Kenya but could very well be related to her anxiety and neurotic tendencies. It is very odd to me since she has never, ever been a counter surfer or chewed things other than the Nylabone. Just this past week, she has chewed something plastic each day. The first two days, she took a plastic food container out of the sink. Fair enough, they were dirty with food. Then the other night she took a CD case and chewed it in front of me. Last night she took a lid I use for

Re: Good vibes for Kenya

This is what she ate, 1400mg at most: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamotrigine My concern is the skin rash that is well document with humans. This is why humans have to ween onto the drug. The vet could not find any evidence of this in dogs, but he's never seen a dog take this medicine (even as a prescription for the dog). He said we did not have to check her liver levels since he would bet they'd be all out of whack right now anyway, and there's really nothing else we can do. He said

Re: Is it OK to contact a company, if they are not hiring?

Not a bad idea to me! When the school year started, DH took a few days off subbing and went around to dozens of schools, asked to see the principal, and turned in his resume with his teaching credential file. He got several interviews, contacts, and call backs for subbing gigs this way.
