Re: arggghhh....where did the sweet and easy puppy go?

the knuckle bones might not be a bad idea, but aren't they messy? She is a very easily overheated dog, so I haven't been taking her outside as much with the temps in the mid 90's. I'd hate to have one of those in the house if it made a big mess. She is 6.5 mos old now....typical teenage stage, and I was reminded earlier that I threatened to drop Misty off at the nearest shelter on a few occasions when she was this age! Of course I never meant it, but I was pretty upset with her quite

best chewing deterrent?

bitter apple is not working...Kira took another big hunk of the window sill out last night, even after I saturated the area with it. Are there any mixtures that can be made at home? She sits over by that one window all the time, so I don't know how to keep her from chewing there, and I seriously can not watch her 100% of the time, I've got 4 kids and have to get work done around the house and for some volunteering I do. She'll seemingly be sleeping and then that's when she gets into

Re: arggghhh....where did the sweet and easy puppy go?

she has spent a good deal of time crated today. Hubby was fixing the floor (or at least trying) and I've been sick from an allergic reaction to an antibiotic, so it's been rough. My daughter is about to take her out for a run for a few minutes. It's 97 right now, so it won't last long.

Re: best chewing deterrent?

Okay...(taking deep breath, so as to not get too upset) First, I did not ask for sarcastic responses. I've had other dogs before, and this is the first real issue I've had which I needed assistance with. I asked specifically for chewing deterrents...she has a kong, plenty of bones, lots of toys, etc...to chew on...all right within her reach. I can NOT take her with me everywhere in the house for every chore I am doing. I am on the go too much to do that, and she's a crazy dog. I also

arggghhh....where did the sweet and easy puppy go?

I take back what I said about Kira being the easiest puppy ever. Since her spay surgery, she has pooped in the house twice (never did it before that for the 3 months we've had her), ate a window sill while we were outside and I thought she was sleeping (contained in the kitchen) and today, she ripped up a 2' in diameter section of our kitchen vinyl flooring. Our house is pretty new, but I dropped a big lid on the floor a while back and it made a small 1" slit in the flooring which Kira

Re: Kira updated....

Kira weighs 44lbs. That's what Misty weighed at her last vet visit, but I think she may weigh a few lbs more now. The vet said she guesses she may only grow another inch taller, and probably 5-8lbs heavier. Misty is all legs, so she appears so much larger, but her body isn't as muscular. Kira did great with her staple removal and got lots of love and belly rubs, so hopefully she won't think the vet is a bad place!

Kira updated....

Kira gets her staples from her surgery gone bad removed tomorrow. She's been doing great and is having no more poopie issues. I'm so glad that ordeal is overwith. Here's a picture of her with her beautiful neckwear (her ears were crammed in there): eating was an interesting experience with the cone on, but she sure found a way! Misty has a sock fetish. If you leave socks anywhere within her reach, she will get them and hide them either under the table or in her crate. She doesn't

Re: Honestly not sure what to do...

I'm so upset. I probably tried TOO hard today, and maybe she sensed the stress, but I have stood out in the rain way too long, soaked through way too many shirts today, and Kira has ripped my arms out of their sockets for the LAST time. She has been a little pain in the butt, and will suddenly BOLT if she sees something and right now, both my shoulders and my ribs on the left side are killing me. I came in a bit ago, after she was whimpering to go out, and I stood in that rain with her for 15

Re: Honestly not sure what to do...

She FINALLY WENT. YIPPEEE. It was orange and there was a lot of it, but she went and she didn't scream this time. Thank you GOD. I had the night from hell with her, mostly my doing because I was determined she was going to go, and I guess she just wasn't ready. I'm on strike from anything dog related for the rest of today. Our other dog vomited in four places this morning, and that pushed me over my limit! I need to go be by myself later or something!

Re: velcro dog

there are times that I love having a velcro dog, but yesterday, I just wanted to hide from Misty. I was doing housework, and she traveled from room to room with me, and it started to get annoying. When I finally sat on the floor to fold some laundry, and she was laying on top of some of my clean laundry, I had to send her downstairs and give me a rest! She's right here next to me as I type. If I get up and tiptoe out of the office, she'll wake up like there's a fire, and jump to come
