This is so terrible, my heart just sinks at the news of this. Poor puppies and kitties, run free. I am glad to read that the surivivors were taken to an area vet hospital, they will require care, some long term care.
I'm the first to sing the praises of clicker training. I know that everything Kivi learns from clicker training sticks like glue in his little mind, especially if he thought it up all on his own. So I use that where I feel it will get me to my goal quickest and easiest and I use something else when it won't. I don't know why you think I have no training goals. I've never said I didn't. I always know what I'm after, even if the answer to that

I am happy for Cyrus, evidence here that you can save them all. There is a lot of great offers to help get the dog to a new location and those are a very unselfish acts. But as a rescuer who does bring in dogs from far away locations there is also a lot of effort in stringing the offers of help together and that is not mentioning the effort to have backups for backups. From the original post, I think this rescue would be disqualified by the rescue networks because of all the reasons sighted why this

I don't disagree with you at all nor is there any conflict. I am going by the original post, the OP's offer to the dog which is not good in my opinion, and I think I gave pretty good advise at what the likely scenario would be and maybe avoid a future disappointment to the OP. The rescue networks work for both the dog at risk and not at risk but is lined with doer people that have to make judgement calls with very little information provided to them. Having a name like yourself or maybe myself

Spiritdogs, I have given you and others very good advise for future inquiries when trying to rescue a dog and it was based on the original post and as I said sometimes that skimpy information is all we that are in rescues day in and day out have to go on to make judgement calls in the best interest of the dog. You should look at this as an education opportunity for you and not an opportunity to respond in a belligerant post.
As long as someone is out there with him, we will not dig,...
Thats part of the answer and the other part is outside time as not only activity time but relaxation time, calm time.

Since the dog is drinking water work with that, flavor the water with human food, dog food, dry or wet, just get some nutriants into the dog. A dog in this state has lost the hunger urge and it needs to be restimulated.

My Great Dane named Drizzle has done this all her life. Not with her GD housemates but with the fosters who are always smaller than her. Drizzle is a fun police dog and often will intercede if play gets too excited or rough. It works out pretty good because after the nip the fosters are well behaved. I see no harm that would cause me to alter the behavior, as long as the other dogs accepts her message to them.

I turned them over tonight to their new home. All they needed was a little help from friends. I am glad I could be there for them.
To me the fact that there is so much outrage that it DOES prevent the sale of dogs from pet shops is actually better than it being illegal - it means that the public can make a difference without reliance on politicians to do it.
After your post I did some surface researching. In the UK it is illegal to sell puppies without a license, I think you have a two bitch rule. The stopping of selling puppies in stores came about because an authority stepped in and
