what to do for a limp???

lilee, my tiny 3.5 lb poodle, is limping. she is 13 y.o. i felt around her elbow on her front leg and it feels a little swollen. i'm not sure how she did this. i have a little (very little) metacam leftover from ginger's (a recently placed foster; she weighed 8 lbs) surgery. i also have deramaxx and tramadol from toffee; he weighed 18 lbs. should i give her anything? and is there anything else i should do before i bring her in to the vet? he is on vacation, so i would have to bring her in

do sulfa drugs cause dry eye????

charlee has been on zonisamide (now 100mg X 2) and 30mg pb (X 2) for quite some time. i think, at least 6 to 9 months. he also has eye issues for which he is seen every 6 months by an opthalmologist. he has never required any meds for his eyes. he went in yesterday for a 6 month recheck and the vet found that his tear production has dropped and now he is being treated for dry eye with optimmune. the vet checked with the pharmacy and found out that zonisamide is a sulfa drug and can cause serious

placing my foster????

i have fostered several dogs, but have always been a failed foster! now there is someone really interested in my present foster and i am starting to have a breakdown thinking i have to give her up. i know it is a wonderful home with people who will love her, but i am still so sad. does it ever get easier???? my husband thinks we should keep her, but he tends to forget we already have four others! if we do keep her, then we could no longer foster. i need some words of encouragement or just some good

older poodle had her first seizure last night

lilee, my almost 13 y.o. tiny toy poodle (3.5 lbs), had a seizure last night. she came out of it very quickly. i took her to the vet today and he did some blood work. it just came back and there were nucleated red blood cells. he asked if we had lead paint and i told him no. he wants to do a re-check and an ultrasound of her abdomen. does this sound right? what else would he be looking for?

angel eyes

i know many people have used angel eyes. my groomer suggested i use it for the tear staining on one of my poodles. she said she never recommended anything like it before, but several clients have used it and she couldn't believe the difference in their eyes. i noticed that charlee (he has epilepsy) has developed stains as well and was wondering if i could give it to him as well. i was just wondering if it has any adverse interaction with pb, zonisamide, kbr, etc? i would never give it without

walking on a leash

i am fostering a wonderful poodle who spent her days as a breeder until she was rescued a few weeks ago. she has never been on a leash or when she was, it was not enjoyable for her. she bucks or freezes when i put one on her. i have tried both a collar and a harness. i have tried to take her for short walks with another dog, who loves to walk on his leash. i was hoping she would see him and follow along. i have kept a short leash on her, so she knows what it feels like, still no luck. any suggestions

Re: walking on a leash

HELP for a marking rescue

I'm having a very difficult time finding/making a belly band that works well for an older rescued poodle (15 and used for breeding, never neutered). I have one of the tie ones that I've had to make and it's a double width one because he is such a marker. I also put in two sanitary napkins. He's managing to go around the belly band - I don't know how but I'm finding dribbles all over the kitchen and throughout the house which, as you can imagine is encouraging everyone else

foster won't eat!

i am fostering a great mini poodle who was rescued from a backyard breeder. she was used solely for breeding and had little contact with the outside world. she had been nursing almost right up to the end. she still has milk. she is a very finnicky eater. the first day i offered her cottage cheese and rice. she ate it right up. she probably was hungry. the next day she rejected it. i then added kibble which had been soaked in chicken broth. i gave her some canidae, which i had left over, since i switched
