Hey all! Being that you all were a great help in suggesting rescue books, I was wondering if anyone can suggest good books on canine behavior particularly books that deal with adding new dogs to the pack. I'd totally appreciate it and thanks again for your help.

I've done nail painting on both my male and female dogs. You can see what I'm talking about here .

As some of you know, we had to put our Rottweiler Shiloh down in May. Shi was mainly my mama's dog and now she's ready to add another dog to the family. She'd really like to adopt an adult Rotti. Being that we've never adopted a dog, and I know some of you have and some of you are involved in rescue, can any of you recommend any books on the subject of adopting a dog? Books that would break down what to look for, how to integrate a rescue with dogs that already live in the house,

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. My mom is in her early 50's and already has experience in large breed dogs as we've owned GSD's, Dobes and Rotti's as that's what Shiloh was. Because she loved Shiloh to pieces, she really fell in love with the Rottweiler which is why she wants to adopt one. She really doesn't want a puppy as she doesn't want to go through raising a puppy and would rather have a young adult. Being that we have kids in the house and my 9 and 4 year old

I own 2 Boston Terriers named Shelby and Souffle. I just love the breed to pieces. As far as gas goes, that's a Boston Terrier given. It doesn't matter what kind of food you give, they'll pass gas so bad that sometimes even they have to leave the room, LOL! The reason for that is the way their mouths and noses are shaped. They tend to swallow more air and it has to come out somewhere and it usually comes out of the tooter instead of the rooter.

I own Boston Terriers and yes it's possible. You'd really have to look into the pedigree and you'd probably find dogs of seal color in it. In fact, it's much harder to get black, without any brindle whatsoever, and white.

As a fellow Boston Terrier owner, and as someone who does intricate nail polish jobs on my dogs, I have found the best way to do a dogs nails is to desensitize them by constantly touching their paws and nails. Do this everywhere and as often as possible. Once the dog is used to that, then bring out the nail equipment(clippers, dremel and styptic pencil/powder) and get some Liverwurst(what we refer to as "canine crack"). You may want to involve another person while you do this as it's

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate all of your help. Based on what I've read, Petsmart does have a grooming school but it's not mandatory. You can get a job there with no experience and if you show promise then you are selected to go to grooming school. So far, I've not read of anything regarding Petco's requirements so I'm dwelving deeper into the issue. If anyone has any more info, please let me know. Once again, thanks!

Some of you may remember the story regarding Whisper the Big Fuzzy that I dogsit for and her Petsmart grooming experience. Well, not too long ago, someone read my Sekc's Zoo My Space blog regarding this story and experienced the same situation with her dog. Because of that and other similar stories, I was thinking of making this a webpage on my website . The reason I want to do this because Petsmart/Petco are extremely popular, they always advertise grooming services and most people do not realize

If they are downstairs, they'll stand by the patio door. If they are in my room, they will stand at the door and quite possibly scratch at it. However, I always go by this method. I will ask them "Do you gotta take a $%^&?(expletive for poop)" and if they do, they'll get up and run to the door. If they don't, they ignore me. People find it rather hilarious that my dogs know what $%^& means.
