This is the most insane, outrageously worded piece of bullcrap legislation I have ever seen on this subject. Combined with the assanine breeding legislation coming up for a vote soon, NY is becoming a hotbed for such legislation. The new breeder law would actually penalize owners who mistakenly bought a dog from an unlicensed or substandard breeder. It will essentially stamp out breeding in our state. I have already written to and spoken to one of my state legislators on the breeding legislation

I may be fostering a dog taken out of a nasty pound in OH. Right now, she's with a private rescue that can't keep her much longer, so somehow, she ended up with no place else to go but here. Should have her by next weekend, and was just wondering what breed or mix she is ... the pound classified her as a foxhound, but I don't see that at all, neither does the current foster home. Our best guess is Treeing Walker coonhound or a treeing walker mix, maybe some harrier in there? Can't

Gina - thanks for the reminder about the brucellosis, would have never entered my mind to check for that! She has not been spayed yet, either so that is definitely a concern. She did have a vaccination @ the shelter but from what I hear about that place from anyone who has ties w/ it is that it's a living hell hole. Several months ago I got the same rescuer lady in contact with a rabbit hunter who had a preggo Beagle bitch in bad housing conditions. Wife wanted it gone yesterday, no one wanted

I have always been fond of large dogs - mainly Dobies, but since a very young age I've been a hound person, and really don't want to own more than one or get seriously involved in another type of dog. I've had a GSD, also had a Rottie for a very short while. Both great dogs, ones I might own again in the future, but what I've always been drawn to are the scent hounds. Mainly Beagles, Foxhounds, Coon dawgs. My grandfather took me to a traditional Beagle pack hunt when I was maybe 3yrs

So far, 2009 has been an unprecedented year for animal rights legislation, and the National Animal Interest Alliance has been hard at work presenting the facts and arguments against it. The majority of the proposals we are tracking -- from mandatory spay/neuter to breed specific laws to anti-breeder measures -- have been brought to you by the Humane Society of the United States, (HSUS), and it is clear that they have been going state-to-state peddling one-size-fits all "solutions" to complex

We seem to have a problem with our bitches heat cycles. I have 3 that are well overdue to come in, one has had her T3 T4 checked less than a year ago. She will also be 6yrs next month, and is normally so regular you can set your watch by her. She's about 2 months overdue, my other bitch who is going on 3yrs is 3 monts overdue. And the last one is a 10 month old pup who is at least a month overdue. Two of her littermate sisters have had their first cycles between 7-9 months. Normally, I wouldn't
are they indoors a lot? I know amt of daylight can have an effect. Might just be too much dark not enough light right now. Makes sense...they shouldn't have pups until it's for certain in theory they'd make it weather wise. They might just be overruling your calendar because of Mother Nature.
Two of them are house dogs, the youngest is kenneled outside. The indoor girls, tho, have definitely been spending less time outdoors ... just getting
