  • NDR-7 year itch??

Is the 7 year itch a reality? I think some study or another said it was. But be that as it may...my 7th wedding anniversary has come and gone...and so far so good.

I have to say looking back...I never, ever thought I'd be a married with kids type. Heck I don't particularly like kids, truth be told. They make me uneasy...and WHY are their hands always, always sticky?

DH and I had the "one more baby" discussion this weekend in earnest (we have a "State of the Union" talk every year to make sure anything anyone wants to say/get off their chest gets said) and we both had such mixed feelings about it.

I am old now, IMO for having babies...and really...the gap between the oldest and a baby would approach 7 years. One thing I always told myself was that big age gaps mean trouble!

Then there's the question of freedom. We're coming up on a time when BOTH kiddos will be in school...and that leaves some good time in the day for me to get things done, take up a new hobby, spend more time with the hounds, get a job, etc. And at the back end...when we finally get the youngest out of the house...there'd be another one still home, LOL. That world tour would have to wait even longer! Travel Paradise

We agreed...that right now it's a "no" on the 3rd baby topic. So we're going to enjoy our kiddos entering the fun part of school...before angst and turmoil....while we can.

The marriage is solid from both our viewpoints and these days that seems to be a rare thing. So far so good...

  • Blogs asking for help w/dogs.

Please folks...not picking on anyone, offering advice/input.

Blogs are not the best place at this community to ask for help. They are read by only a small percentage of the thousands of members here...and many times, it is hard to respond and have a back and forth dialogue on a blog.

IF you have a behavior or health issue..and you want help...ESPECIALLY if you want help this year sometime...lol...post on the FORUM. That's where the real "meat" of this site is, and all the advice awaits!

Blogs are more a "Day In The Life" type deal where viewpoints and adventures can be read at leisure.

Hope this helps someone....have a great day!

  • Fall Reflections

    hmmm...it's Fall of 2007!

I am happy to say that I am in a good place with my dogs and life. Things were hard this spring with the losses of Nonnie's "big pup" and of Hero, and some other issues with Teeny and Nonnie and such...but things are better now. Things have been worked out.

I got my happy update that Joe/Bracket got a point in his first US show in a long while (that makes 3 now I think)...and he finished his Can Ch.

CH. PJ/Tuck is making his Jr Handler happy and will be attending Euk and WKC both with her....the National is this week and I am excited about hearing what goes on there.

Twyla and Windy are looking lovely and will be out showing in October....anxious but in a good way about that. Planning the future, and that's also exciting and nervewracking at the same time.

I've gotten my updates from everyone with pet pups/retirees and things are happy....small issues but good owners....good people and I am so lucky to have found them all.

My first litter....turned 3 years old this September....time flies by so quickly.

  • Central Market

Now I know a lot of folks rave about this place...but I wasn't that impressed. It was CROWDED, it was DARK, and it just didn't feel like Texas LOL!

I bought a sausage that was venison/pork and that was good...and would be hard to find elsewhere.

I guess the things they had inside were okay and interesting but the layout was hard to maneuver in, the place was really not well lighted and I felt like the ceiling was coming down to get me lol. I thought'd be more "airy" and spacious than it was.

The "cafe" area seemed cool, lots of choices. My Mom bought some tamales and pronounced them "not good". She gave me half and I thought they were decent so...jury's out on the tamales lol.

Anyhow...it was interesting and might have been more so on a less crowded day perhaps.

  • Squirrels---the enemy of dogdom.

Why...must they taunt the hounds so? They sit just out of reach and actually talk smack at my poor dogs. LOL. I find this amusing but also see the frustration in the pack.

They can give a hound OCD, the constant staring into the trees and running the fenceline...*sigh*

I even went out there and threaten them...and *I* get scolded too! I did get a couple pics of the offenders tho!

If you look carefully at the below pic you can see that the squirrel is flipping me off! KIDDING....but "made ya look!" lol.

  • Cats

I know some of us are errm "blessed?" enough to share our homes with cats. I have 2 and there is one on the desk right now as I type. Any typos are now his fault.

This cat, Yahoo being his name...has a cute habit of giving belly or back massages. If you lie on the couch he will magically appear...tho you may have not seen him all day...jump up and find the softest part of your belly (no abs of steel in MY house thankya) and start purring, and kneading away.

    Now I don't overly like this cat...well I do like him...but he's "the man's" cat...but this is cute.

He is very careful and never let's his nails make you uncomfortable...it's quite a delicate operation. He's especially intent on doing this when you are stressed or sick.

If I could get him to do it on command we'd be on Letterman...but ya know....he's a cat...so that's rather a pipe dream!

  • "As The Forum Churns" Episode 1 1/2

Ahhh the saga continues. I find my way around pretty well now, impressive eh? I seem to have found just about every bell and most of the whistles.

People are rightly concerned and peeved in varying amounts...and I am envisioning IT guys holed up someplace eating Twinkies and watching DVD reruns of "Babylon 5" while half heartedly working on the various and sundry issues here. It's amusing and irritating all at once.

Been trying to help out as I can...hoping I don't get kicked in the shin more times than I get cookies LMAO!

Sometimes...you have to laugh because otherwise...where would you hide all the bodies? Devil

  • I am so amused!

The site went down RIGHT after I posted that perhaps considering all the complaints they should have shut it down completely...lmao. that's too funny timing wise.

There's always a worse alternative...no forum at all for example. I have other places to hang out but still...when idog comes back I will be here.

Jaime will zap my shock collar if I try to leave anyhow...LMAO. Wink

  • Change is hard

Okay I admit there are things I don't like about this new format. I think that's normal. I will adapt...as unaccepting of change as I am!

I think the blog area is cool as is the video upload link. I am trying to restrain myself on that one...and leave room for other people. HAH!

There will be the usual grumblings about this that and the other but I think since we're all basically addicts...we'll persevere to get our fix of Idog-goodness, right?

Another change I am not looking forward to....doesn't the time change here pretty soon? Daylight Savings Time is horrid! But at least on this one we get one MORE hour of sleep...I think. Confused

  • The First entry

well actually it's the second...the site has apparently EATEN the first.

I was wondering in the main, if a blog on this forum would be considered more of a bell, or a whistle? Hmm....
