It's such a nice day today; sunny, windy, and beautiful, though there is definately a bite in the air that lets you know that winter is around the cornor. I drove my daughter to school this morning and brought Keisha along. I am trying to get her over her car sickness, so I take her for short rides here and there. She and I stopped at the park and walked along the river, and it was so nice. On the way home she threw up twice, poor girl. I sure hope she outgrows this.
When we got home I put all 3 poodles in the outside pen and they just ran and ran and ran around. They are so fun to watch! They chased each other, chased balls, chased leaves. I sat in there with them and threw balls to them, and then walked around to check the whole area. Keisha loves to dig craters in there so I have to fill them in every once in a while.
Now we are all in the house. They are laying here in the computer room with me, all pooped out. I am going to run to the store and then come home to begin some grooming. Keisha and Lacie are due for baths and both need a bit of trimming done. I shaved all of their feet two nights ago, and also clipped and dremeled their nails, so at least that part is done already. I also pulled the hair out of their ears, a job that I absolutely hate (and they feel exactly the same way about it!).
I really enjoy grooming the dogs. It is so expensive to have 3 poodles groomed on a regular basis so I bought a groooming book and the supplies I needed, and just decided to learn to do it myself. I find it fun and rewarding, although it is a little bit time consuming. Okay, I take that back. It is a LOT time consuming!! My sister-in-law is a groomer and she has given me several pointers, and over the past few months I have gotten pretty good at it! Not sure I'd ever want to do it for a living, but I enjoy doing my own dogs!
I think I will take Rex to town and walk him on the bike trails - they are paved trails that go for miles through the woods and it is just beautiful. It's good for him because there are always people walking, biking, and rollar blading on the trails - he needs to have experiences like that. He is gradually getting over his fears and I am beginning to see a new confidence in him. He is such a good boy.
I should run. It's been a lazy, relaxing morning with my crew and I have totally enjoyed it. I don't often get morning like this one and I totally appreciate it when I do.
Have a good day all, and be sure to hug your dogs today!!
