Hi I am new to this site.
Well I bought my first AKC registered Irish Setter in March of this year. She was 4 months old when I got her.I have had 2 previous Irish Setters before but they were field type.I dont know anything at all about showing but I would love to start. But just one problem with Lillie.
Oh and yes I know that just because a dog has AKC papers doesnt mean their showable.
Well my problem is she doesnt care anything about food.I have switched her food so many times. She was on pedigree puppy chow when I got her but wouldnt touch it when I got it for her.So I switched her to purina with the same result. Went to Iams and figured it cost a little bit of money so it had to be good dog food and she would eat it.She went 3 days without eating a bite. So I got on the computer and wrote breeders and show people.I got one reply out of the 50 people I messaged. She was very helpful.
Told me to get a dog food that has the first ingredient as meat of some sort.So I switched Lillie to purina one large breed puppy formula. She loved it as long as I added eggs to it.So I now have a dog that will eat but it looks like I starve her.Her ribs now are not visible but her hips bones are and there is no way I can try to show her looking like that.I have now switched her to purina proplan performance formula since she is a active dog.She gets 2 cups of dry food in the morning in the afternoon she gets half can of eukanuba large breed canned food and then at night she gets 2 more cups of dry dog food.I also put one egg to each 2 cups I feed her so she gets 2 large eggs to eat too.She has been on this for about a week now so wish me luck.Oh and any advice on food would be appreciated.
