What a crazy Christmas weekend!

This is one of those rare times when Luke & I were actually somewhat relieved to come back to work and resume a normal schedule again.  Things have been so busy the last week.

Friday night we went shopping to get supplies for the desserts that I had to take to the Christmas party.  That evening was spent baking and watching Shrek 3, so not terribly stressful.

Saturday I was running around the apartment trying to get everything ready to go -- I had to remember to bring both desserts, Luke's dinner, plus breakfast for him and PJs for me in case we got stranded (bad weather forecasted!).  We made it to the dog center around 9:30 and it was just starting to mist outside -- although it could have just been the thick, thick fog....

We had a very busy day at the dog center -- the first time I had a chance to look at the clock it was already 2:00 p.m.!  And of course Luke was following me around everywhere, so he didn't get to nap or anything.  We didn't get out of the dog center until about 4:45, so I didn't get to do any Christmas shopping since the party started at 4:30.

The weather had turned quite bad during the afternoon and the roads were terrible.  It took me a half hour to drive to my friend's house (normally 10 minutes away) and I saw no fewer than seven cars off the road!  I was thankful that Luke and I didn't have to drive all the way home.

Luke was a very good boy during the Christmas party and everyone was very impressed by him.  We ended up staying the night at my friend's house because of the weather and our long drive home.  I let Luke sleep in bed with me (fast becoming a regular occurance!) and he did just fine.

When I let him out in the morning there was over a foot of snow on the ground!  My friend's husband had us dug out by 10 a.m. and then Luke & I foolishly tried to get some Christmas shopping done.  I didn't do too much, though, and we safely made it home around noon and then didn't go anywhere for the rest of the day.  We just went out and played in the ever increasing snow piles a few times throughout the afternoon.

I volunteered to go into work at the dog center on Monday because we had customers that needed to come in and pick up their stuff.  Luke and I left there around 3 p.m. and went straight up to my parent's house for round #1 of Christmas.  It was non-stop "festivities" from then to last night when we got home around 8 p.m.  Both Luke & I are EXHAUSTED -- I got the Christmas cold, which doesn't help matters much!

After work today Luke is going to the vet to get his kennel cough booster shot.  I figured it's a good idea to keep him up to date with that since he's around so many dogs these days.  He'll get to come to the barn with me after the vet, though, so that will make it all worth it for him!
