We got our sheltie about 6 months ago and just recently noticed a tatto on her inner thigh that says "lap dog".

She is a mid-size sheltie.  She is 5 years old.  We got her from a lady who had 2 children and worked a lot and didn't want to leave her alone so much.

The lady we got her from said she got her from a breeder who wanted her back when she didn't want her anymore.  But the lady "gave" her to us instead of returning her to the breeder.

Belle (my dog's name) is very gentle & timid.  She goes as far away from humans as possible.  We try to include her in everything we do.  We take her with us when we go out most of the time.  We are very loving to her.

Does anyone have any idea as to what in the world the tatto means and why she is tattooed at all?
