Our first Beginner Obedience Class went very well. I was actually surprised how well it went. Jeremy and I both went together since we both handle Apollo and he needs to know what to do, and how to do it correctly.
The class consisted of a BC (the trainer's), 2 Aussies, 2 Irish Water Spaniels, and a Belgian Tervuren. It was really amazing to see the intense eye contact the herders gave their handlers.
We first worked on some loose leash walking. Apollo did great. We has a slight problem getting him to sit at my side; he would either sit way to far back or too far out. But, with some luring he caught on.
We also worked on recall. Apollo did great, dashing from me to Jeremy everytime we'd say, "Apollo come!".
Jeremy was put to work, too, haha. One Aussie was very fear reactive towards men. This dog, as soon as it saw Jeremy (he didn't even see the dog), was locked in a stare with him...then the Woo!Woo!Woo! barking started. Well, the owner had Jeremy not look at the dog at all but toss treats to it. By the end of class the dog was comfortable around Jeremy and was even jumping up on him a few times!
