  • Life with Symmetrical Lupoid Onychodystrophy

It has been 3 months since Brenin was diagnosed with this auto-immune disease.  It has taken all the fun out of hiking, walking and running.  This disease effects his ability to walk, play, run and hike.  It's an inflammation of the joints in all his feet, it causes most if not all of the toe nails to pull away from the quick and eventually fall off.  The joints and toes will hurt so badly that he's lame on all 4 feet.

There's no cure, treatment is sketchy, vets really don't have a clear understanding of what they are dealing and no 2 dogs respond the same way to what little treatment there is.  Every dog is different and so every treatment is different.  Sometimes the same dog will have to have the treatment changed that they recieved before because the disease wont respond the same way the second time.

Every thing I've managed to find about this disease says that it may be linked to allergies and food.  Which makes things even harder since Brenin has irritable bowel disease and allergies.  I keep saying that this is like a Dr. Seuss story gone bad... I have Freak 1 and Freak 2.Wink
