    Healthwise?

One more bag of canidae to go! It's about time to get a new bag to start mixing. I was talking to the owner of our dog bakery, and he said he was getting in healthwise, and he thought it was a great food. He said it was pretty comprable to canidae, and is only $38 for 40#. I haven't heard much about it, so i was wanting some feedback. If it's not worth a shot, we'll go for TOTW.

    Re: Healthwise?

I used it in my rotation years ago, and my dogs always did well on it.  I haven't kept up with whether or not they've changed the ingredients much since then, though.

    Re: Healthwise?

The Healthwise is a great food!!  I use it in my rotation and have one of my girls on it exclusively because she has a sensitive stomach and is also a poop eater.  She doesn't seem to indulge in her gross habit as much on the Healthwise and her tear stains aren't too bad either.

I've also recommended it to other breeders because of the moderate calcium levels in it  that are just right for pregnant girls and also growing puppies and they have been very happy with it.  I use the Chicken & Rice Puppy formula because it actually has less calcium than the adult and it has more protein and fat.  The Active adult chicken and rice is also really good.  I am not thrilled about the lamb formulas because of the gluten grain (barley)  in them...

    Re: Healthwise?

I have used Healthwise Chicken and Oatmeal.  It gave me better results than canidae als (original formula), especially the coat condition (shinier) and, wow, small poops....

The only problem I have is that it is not readily available in Phoenix, AZ.  I have to special order it and I can't get the lamb based one.

P.S. - For my money, I would choose Healthwise over California Naturals (when choosing among natura products).

I used that with Maze for the first 6 months. I used both Chicken and Lamb types. Her coat was shiny and she enjoyed the food. I ended up having to switch when she developed allergies to Chicken.

My only complaint with them is they mix chicken and lamb in the Lamb and Oatmeal so it's not good if your dog has allergies. Otherwise I found it a good food for a good price. Smile

    Re: Healthwise?

I never used it because I always fed Cal Nat for Ben's allergies (at the time he was able to tolerate both chicken and rice, sigh) - they did mix odd things together and put oddball things in there.  We couldn't get it at a good enough price to make it worth the trouble but that seems to have changed.

What do you want to bet we see more Healthwise out there soon?  :)
