    Mindless Chatter - Thurs

*sniffle* The weather has changed drastically and so my sinuses are whacked today. *sniffle*

These last few days have been a trip.

First, on Tues about 11 am all the lights in my building started flickering like strobe lights. Sirens and alarms were going off and fire trucks are racing near by. Finally the power goes out completely. The transformer that powers our work complex (10+ buildings) caught fire. They sent us all home. Too bad I had a meeting to prepare for the next day. I had to take my work home instead of enjoying the free day off :)

That night, Dakota was a super sneak and busted in to the cats room. She raided the cat litter box, cat food, etc. Then she raided the kitchen counter and stole an entire back of Snickers mini's. She snuck them off to the garage and ate the entire bag - wrappers and all.

So, when I got home yesterday Dakota had gotten sick ALLLL over the house. Puked up snickers wrappers every where. Piles of runny poo and thrown up gunk. DISGUSTING. Plus she was feeling really bad - so bad that I decided to take her to the vets. $95 later, she's at home resting - and still sick but at least she's sleeping. No blockage or pancreous damage. I expect to come home today to more runny poo to clean up. *sigh*

Today is pay day but I hardly know it. It's more like pay all of your bills and tickets day. Back to zero dollars in the bank again.

Poor Dakota! She will never grow up will she. Hope your house is not too bad.

DETROIT MAYOR KWAME KILPATRICK RESIGNS AND GOES TO JAIL!!!! He also has to pay a million dollars restitution! Oh happy day. Now maybe we can move on with other news.

On a personal note another house in our neighborhood was broken into Tuesday AM (one week exactly) and the police apprehended 4 suspects. The M O is the same as our house so we are hopeful same low life scum bags. The Detective on our case said they are not cooperating and as a result have not been able to finger print the suspects. To me that says they were not caught "red handed" and that the police need to build their case up. It also says to me the perps have lawyer'd up.

We get to go shopping for our computer and other things now ok'd by the insurance company. We got new checks and credit cards. Wow access to our own money, novel concept.

I am off work tomorrow Teddi is competing (dock jumping) in the Ultimate Air Games at the Woods N Water show at Imlay City. You have to have a title to compete on Sat and Sun, Teddi has her junior jumper title. GO TEDDI!!

I feel Dakota's pain - I woke up at 3:30am this morning with an upset stomach - I think due to the stupid barium I drank on Tuesday working it's way through my system.  Not fun.

Tho on the plus side I did decide to sleep in and go into work late to set myself up for success teaching classes this evening, so I'm having fun being a bum now that my stomach is settled more.

Awe Dakota honey, chocolate is just not good for you even though it is soooo tasty!

Glad to hear that they caught the "perps" and I hope they can prove the case.  *fingers crossed*

ugh - barium.  That's all I have to say about that...

Today, after work, DH and I are attending our first homestudy class for our adoption.  There is a ton of paperwork that we have filled out and some of those questions are very... interesting.  It's very strange to fill out a document, checking yes, no or maybe, for what physical/cognitive dissabilities you would accept....wierd feeling strange.

    More on that later...

    Re: Mindless Chatter - Thurs

I'm a nervous wreck. DH and a buddy are restaining all of our decking in the backyard today. When we had the pool put in, we picked out a colored concrete that was supposed to be brick looking. It faded to a pale pink really fast and we've hated it ever since.. They're acid staining it today to a brownish/gold color and altho the sample looked great, I'm worried that it won't turn out the way we want it. Not only is it expensive to do, but it's been a ton of work for DH, so I reallyyyyyy hope it turns out nice. I feel awful that they're doing this on a day it's going to be blazing hot too.

     Wow good luck cakana!

And you too M&M's parents I can totally imagine how strange it would be to be asked those sort of questions

Great news Ann - I hope it is the same jerks and the neighborhood can rest again

Dakota you are old enough to know better, what sort of example does this set for your younger siblings!

I just hit the order button for a small chest freezer, been looking for ages and just got fed up and bought it

My iDog addiction is bad lately - I am so bored/procrastinating blah!

I'm about that close to buying a freezer myself. I've wanted one for a couple years, but keep waiting for DH to clear a space in the garage. Maybe if I buy the freezer, that will motivate him. Hmm

Or maybe you'll be the only people in your neighborhood with a freezer in the bathroom.  Just kidding. Big Smile That's actually a good idea ... once you have it, you really have no choice but to move things around to make room for it.

M&Ms mom - good luck with the adoption meeting tonight.  Exciting stuff, even if the effort to get there is tedious.  Sending good wishes your way.

Gracie has taken to pooping in the laundry room in the middle of the night.  There have been 3 or 4 mornings now where I've found a load - and I HIGHLY doubt that it's Achilles or Jada.  Normally, if/when she whines, I wake up and take her out.  Either she's not giving the signal or I am missing it in my sleep.  But I think I need to close the bedroom door to keep her in, or start crating her at night.  This is rotten for her - and now means I need to go find another crate, because the only one I have here in AZ is our soft-sided one for competitions.  Ugh.

    Re: Mindless Chatter - Thurs

I've wanted one for over a year and been looking on craigs list but mostly those are big ones.  I wanted just a small one for overflow and because now that I do feed B some raw putting something in our freezer is like some spatial relations test.  DH keeps saying we don't really need it - phooey

I bought this one  - I have seen a 7 cu ft one and that is way too big, keeping in mind these work best full.  Plus it is to go in the garage and this is less than 2 ft from the wall so no issue there.  DH doesn't know yet but ah well.

That would be exactly the size/type I would want. It's just the 2 of us (and 2 dogs), so we don't need something huge, but somehow our side-by-side freezer is always jammed, especially if DH has been to Costco. You'd think it wouldn't be that hard to find a place in our garage for something that small, huh?Confused

ha ha ha totally us - I have declared space on the wall of the side I used to park my car (let's not go there) mine and that is where it will go.  And we are also Costco users and that is part of it too.  DH buys the big vac packed beef and cuts it up amongst the myriad other things we buy in bulk.  Then last week our grocery store had pork roasts (boston butt or pork picnic or whatever they are called on sale and I could only buy 1 and that was a challenge.  When I opened the freezer last night and that 7lb slab of pork fell on my foot I was DONE! So freezer on the way!

LOL!! I've warned DH to check the freezer before he makes a trip to Costco just so he'll know how much room there is. He somehow manages to squeeze ALL of his favorite ice cream treats in there but it doesn't leave much room for *real* food. It kills me too to see a great sale on something and know that unless we eat it right away, I can't buy it.

I should claim one side of the garage as mine too. I do get my car in there, but that's about it and it's a 3 car garage. Almost 1/2 of it is taken up by a boat we never use, but DH believes in the motto "he who has the most toys at the end - wins!!" Surprise

From a woman sitting on the couch, watching her DH shoot zombies on the TV screen with the new gun accessory he bought tonight for the wii....you have my sympathy.   At least you have a boat, I have a house full of geek toys.
