    The Seasons are changing! Dagnabit

As I sit her sweltering in the heat, baking for a party, the dog is outside in his pool while the DH plays and keeps him out of my kitchen and keeps my cakes from falling.

So I decide to take a small iced tea and smoke break...yeah I know bad habit...anywho....imagine my surprise when I saw this on the NOAA weather map...

...FROST IN LOW LYING AREAS TONIGHT...

.A COOL DRY CANADIAN HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL SETTLE INTO
NORTHERN WISCONSIN TONIGHT.  FROST IS EXPECTED LATE TONIGHT OVER
MAINLY LOW LYING AND CLIMATOLOGICAL COLDER LOCATIONS.

     I was like whoa!

My sympathy to anyone in this area....or maybe...could you blow a little of that down here?

The weather will start getting volatile here.  Yesterday it was 92 and humid and then a short bit later it was 62 and very windy.  I went from sweating buckets in a sports bra to needing long pants and a blanket.  A lot of people love Michigan fall and spring but I hate it because it seems you only ever get extremes, sometimes even on the same day.  Even though this past winter was the coldest, longest, and had record snowfall, there was one day in January when it was 70 degrees!  I walked the dogs in a t-shirt, in the rain, after dark and I was still warm.

I think if it frosted here already I'd cry.  That weather system better STAY in Wisconsin.  Yesterday I almost was crying b/c I hate winter and get S.A.D. so I always get this dark mood at the very end of August. This winter I will be trying tanning, a "happy light", and vitamins.

Cool temps in August? According to Al Gore, that can't be happening. Write your congressman! Wink

We've had a relatively cool August, too. Normally, right now, it would be 102 F. It's 86 F. Now, there's an inconvenient factoid.

Enjoy the cool weather where you can. I get enough of the heat down here.

I am ready for cooler temps although this summer hasn't been tooooooooooooo bad - July was disgusting but August hasn't been too bad.  The sun is always hot down here so the best part of the change of season is the cooler mornings and evenings the middle of the day stays quite warm.

I won't mind cooler temps as Indie's slowing down again as his summer haircut grows out and his undercoat is making a comeback.  But I'll sure miss the long days.  I loved taking walks late in the evening and hanging out down at the lake in the evenings, even with the skeeters.

Yup, it got down into the 20s that night. The birdbath was frozen solid. BRR! It's too dang early for that low of temps, even around here!

I haven't had a real summer this year. *pout* I've got rain. Lots of rain. And the trees are already changing color.  So I wouldn't be missing anything as the weather changes.

I feel like I completely missed summer this year. I can't believe that we are in to fall now. I didn't do half the stuff I normally do every summer: kayak trips, cycling trips, at least 1 back packing trip, etc.

The dogs are loving the cooler temps though.

I like fall but I hate winter. I have heard we are going to get a lot of snow and BITTER temperatures. (Farmer's Almanac) OH JOY!!!

I am not looking forward to cooler weather yet. I want summer to linger just a bit longer. In MI we had a gorgeous summer. Not too too many really humid days, and only like 3 that made the 90's. Nope I am not ready for that to end.

The only thing about winter I want is Teddi missed out on winter last year. She deserves to get to play in snow. She did as a "little" puppy but now that she is bigger she can really have fun.

Last night I started putting a sheet on my horse. Trying in a feeble attempt to keep him warmer so he does not grow too much winter coat. I gotta start early. Blankets will head to the barn soon.

Ahh, I too read the Farmers Almanac for this coming winter, you have to respect a 80-85% correct to close predictions.

I am seeing signs here already that fall/winter is coming and that it is going to be long.

Acrons are already dropping from tree's, leaves on inland tree's starting to turn and fall already (I don't count the ones near the road) seems to be large crops of squash, nuts and berries. Birds are flocking together already.

I have already started weathering my home for winter............sad............
